American Idol Season 9

by Gina Scarpa

You know that scene in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, when Qui-Gon Jinn is fighting Darth Maul? Why does every episode of American Idol start with music reminiscent of that epic battle scene? We're talking about whether or not Tim Urban will hang around another week, not a fight to the death. Okay, enough nerdiness from me. Tonight, two Idol hopefuls will be headed home and two former Idols, Adam Lambert and Brooke White, will take the stage to perform.

The Top 9 perform a medley of Elvis classics. Highlights include Crystal awkwardly paired up with Big Mike and Tim showing off a deep baritone voice.

Casey, Aaron, and Andrew are brought to the center of the stage. Seacrest wastes no time beating around the bush. Andrew has been eliminated from the competition.

Idol Gives Back is coming and to get people ready to open their hearts and their wallets, a video is shown of Eliott Yamin and Kara Dioguardi on a trip to Africa. They've brought bed nets over to help protect the children of Angola against malaria.

Names already confirmed for Idol Gives Back are: Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox, Jeff Beck, Joss Stone, Carrie Underwood, Mary J. Blige, and Elton John. Be sure to tune in Wednesday, April 21, at 8/7c.

Brooke White hits the stage with Justin Gaston to perform "If I Can Dream", written by Elvis. Justin is also one of the stars of the web series, "If I Can Dream", but you know him better as Miley Cyrus's creeper ex-boyfriend.

Time for some more results... or so you think. You know Ryan won't really tell you who's going home until the very end. Lee, Siobhan, Katie, Crystal, Mike, and Tim are brought to the center of the stage. Tim, Mike, and Katie are left in the center, while the rest head back to a comfy seat on the couch.

If the season 9 singers need a lesson in performing, look no further than Professor Adam Lambert, who sings his hit song, "Whataya Want From Me?" Class is in session.

Tim Urban will return for another week and deservedly so, based on last night's performance. Ryan reveals that Mike wasn't even in the bottom three, and Katie is headed home.

Be sure to tune in when the Top 7 take the stage on American Idol, Tuesday night at 8/7c on Fox.
