Celebrity Apprentice 3

by David McAlpine

Last week on Celebrity Apprentice, teams were given the task of creating an advertorial for Life Lock and Norton Anti-Virus's new online anti-identity theft system. Cyndi and Bret soon became problems from each of their teams and it was Summer Sanders' and Michael Johnson's problems to fix it. In an ultimate battle of content, it came down to text heavy (the men) versus text light (the women)--and the women prevailed. In the boardroom, Michael Johnson's back was up against the wall, but Darryl Strawberry bowed out, sparing Johnson another week.

This week is a doozy, especially when the Project Managers are announced. Again, it was a battle of the extremes: the little-known (Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks) versus the well-known (widely disliked former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich). The two of them get a private plane down to Orlando to go see first hand Universal's new theme park, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Their task is to create a 3-D interactive display to generate buzz among Harry Potter fans (and the other 10 people on Earth who haven't heard of the new park opening).

When the two get down to Orlando, let's just say Rod really needs to watch what he says or does on camera. It's not like we already knew that he looks kind of like a fumbling idiot (for lack of a better term), but the man couldn't even make a cell phone call. Is he really that real? Cut to Selita who's using her phone like a pro, sending pictures, texting her team and getting everyone organized.

Once Rod gets through to the guys, he makes yet another crucial mistake: assigning Bret a position of power. He gives him creative control and already things start to go downhill from there. Meanwhile, Sharon tries to tell Holly and Summer that Cyndi is a necessity on the team because she's interesting. She also says, "You two are like watching ice melt." Out come the claws!

It's finally time for the kids to walk through each team's display, and the women are up first. Selita begins talking to the children in a British accent (a very, very, very bad one), while Sharon Osbourne stands by, watching and not talking in her actual British accent. The kids get to go through a mouth of a dragon into a room where Cyndi is screaming, telling them not to look at her. However, she's screaming about Muggles and WIzards, so it's really unclear which one she is.

The kids get to finish their tour at Ollivander's wand shop where they get a new wand, a ton of merchandise and some candy. You'd think the women were trying to buy them off because their display was so bad.

Well, once you see the men's, you could tell the women were just being generous. Bret's referral to the kids as "nerdlingers," a school called "Hogwarths" and the Sorting Hat putting everyone into "classes" (not "houses") all were nails in the coffin for Rock Solid. After Curtis makes a vague sexual innuendo about his wand in front of the kids, it was pretty much all over for the men's team, who was sent into the boardroom.

In front of Trump, Rod couldn't even get the houses' names right. Yet Rod still manages to get up and plead his own case, as well as creative director Bret Michaels' case. Doesn't Rod know to get off the ship when it's sinking? Clearly not, because Rod chose Curtis and Michael Johnson to come back with him over Bret, putting the finishing touches on his exit from the competition.
