The Real World DC

by Matt Anaya

This week on The Real World: DC, things got wild quickly for Andrew, but it was nothing compared to last week, when he was thrown off the balcony.

Andrew loves going out and meeting new people, especially when they are cute single girls, and he randomly met a cute girl named Andrea. The two hit it off immediately, and exchange emails by the end of the first night. They ended up making out on the balcony, and at first, that is all I thought Andrew wanted, but he starts liking Andrea, and vise versa, a lot.

The two end up going on a date, making out at the dinner table, and then outside the restaurant, then go home to make out some more. They are obviously into each other and Andrew likes her because she likes him for him. All together now: Awww...

We have all been there before, and that is typically why we fall in love with someone, and the two are starting to fall for each other very quickly. Andrew has never been in a real relationship and it is because he does not want to get his heart broken again. It seems he is only physically attracted to Andrea, who recently ended things with her husband.

Andrew did not seemed fazed by Andrea's divorcé status, which tells you how much he is falling for her, and in a half hour span, Andrew went from single to being in love, and there is already talk of the two living together. I told you it got wild quickly this week.

As much as Andrew is falling for Andrea, he is still very defensive and reluctant about relationships because his mother cheated on his father. Andrew has made it clear all season long he does not trust women, and we finally found out why.

Meanwhile, Erika is starting to feel depressed again (ugh, not this again) and is threatening to leave the house. She says she is out of her comfort zone, and does not get along with any of the roommates (which is not true at all), and she is upset she did not get a job at NPR she interviewed for.

Erika has started a very good relationship with Callie, who genuinely cares about her and wants to be friends with her. Every time Erika gets down, Callie is always there to pick her spirits up, but by the end of the episode she is finding it harder and harder to continue begging Erika to stay.

Erika is a tough one to figure out. She has problems, but they are not very hard ones to deal with, like being out of her comfort zone. All the roommates are out of their comfort zone, and most people are always out of their comfort zone. She is frustrated at life because she is not experiencing the successes she has worked hard for as a musician, but she needs to understand success takes time. She badly wants to become a singer songwriter and go on tour, but it is not going to happen over night and she makes very little effort to get her music out. I like Erika, but she needs to find better coping skills.
