Project Runway Season 7

“A Little Bit of Fashion”

Tonight’s Project Runway starts off with Janeane. She is upset because the editor of Marie Claire detested her dress on the last challenge. Jesse is rethinking his approach and thinks that being safe or in the bottom is just not an option any longer.

The designers gather together at Parson’s to find out what there next challenge will be. Heidi tells them that they will be designing for different models and after introducing a gaggle of six year olds, gives them their challenge: Create a kid’s look that is age appropriate and fashionable.

Jonathan recoils. He stays away from children and admits he is afraid of them. Amy, on the other hand, is ecstatic. She loves “mini clothes”. The designers receive their tiny little dress forms along with their models measurements and head over to Mood to do some fabric shopping with a $50 budget. Jonathan wants to do a kimono sleeve romper. Anthony is having a hard time. His design element celebrates a woman’s curves and he is dealing with no curves on this challenge. Jesse is going with a school girl-Madeline look, while Emilio is doing the opposite and taking his esthetic out of the outfit altogether and designing a pretty little dress.

At Mood, Seth is running around looking for something plaid or hounds tooth and finally finds it. Amy picks something yellow, to be more forward than the typical pink. Jay goes for something sophisticated in plum and navy.

Jonathan is going for a dress with a short bolero jacket and mimics Michael Kors (almost perfectly!) saying: “She looks like a 7 year old waitress at Benihana”

Mila…color blocks. Duh! She is starting to get along with the other designers and they tease her about her color blocking.

Janeane decides on a simple red romper, thinking that it needs to be “something a little girl would wear."

The next day, Tim comes in with a surprise. The looks they have designed will not be walking down the runway that day, but will be walking the runway the next day with a corresponding adult outfit. They have $100 budget and the winner gets immunity!

Emilio is grave. His princess dress is going to be difficult to translate to adulthood. Janeane and Jonathan are both happy and feel in their element to design for adults again. Seth Aaron thinks it will be simple for him since he designed something so in tune with his aesthetics already.

At Mood, Jay says he needs to focus on the same season, color story and sensibility in his adult garment.

Hey! Who’s dog??? Tim and the dog hang out while the designers have 20 minutes at Mood to find what they need.

Back in the work room, Anthony drones on and on, until the other designers take bets on how long he can stay quiet. They find out: 14:56 minutes.

Tim says that Janeane’s looks “Halloween-ish” Amy needs to avoid making her model look like a “clown”.

For the fashion show Tory Burch is the guest judge. Jonathan, Amy and Janeane have the lowest scores. Jesse, Seth and Jay have the highest scores. Jesse’s grey was a nice change according to Tory Burch. Seth had strong looks and Michael Kors says that his black and white jacket is the best tailored item the show has seen this season.

Back to the “losers”. Janeane’s looks were too plain, Nina wanted more whimsy, and Heidi thought they were too simple and not unusual enough. Jonathans looked uncomfortable, too sophisticated and Michael Kors did not go with the predicted “waitress at Benihana” but the: “Caught in a tornado of toilet paper” description for the adult design. As for Amy’s, they said it was confusing, hideous, mismatched and to Tim’s chagrin, I am sure, ahem... “circus like”.

Seth Aaron wins the challenge and also immunity while Janeane is eliminated.
