Shear Genius Season 3

by Chandra Clewley

On tonight’s Shear Genius, we begin with Adee having terrible food poisoning. He says he is going to push through it.

The guest judge tonight is Ken Paves, of Jessica Simpson fame (although the show says: Lady Gaga, Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez…what happened to the ONE that made him famous?).

The short cut challenge is to add extensions….but the twist is, to nine men.

The stylists all draw scissor boxes and Amy gets the last number.

No one is excited about this challenge, save April who styles men for photo shoots and is accustomed to this type of work. Most of the stylists are not used to men as clients and moreover, extensions on men are just not where it is at.

Adee doesn’t want to add extensions and his model is annoyed. Finally, after being sick in a trash can, he exits and doesn’t finish. April and Matthew are both super confident. Brig is happy with her work and finishes early.

The judges love Matthews extension look, but call Brian’s “peppermint patty”. They also like Janine’s although Brig calls Janine’s Elvis-inspired hair-do a pulled off “Wayne Newton”. April, who said she would rock it, ends up with something according to Ken Paves “between MacGyver and Bea Arthur on Maude.” The bottom 2 are Faatemah and Amy. The top 2 are Janine and Matthew with the win going to Matthew. He wins an advantage that is yet to be determined.

The main challenge is a “nature challenge”. The challenge is to style hair for a romance novel cover. They are divided into teams of two, and Matthew, having won advantage, gets to pick the teams, with one stylist flying solo. Matthew picks Janine to work with. He put April and Jon together. Then Adee and Faatemah. And lastly, he had Brig work on her own….can you say underdog?

For the Romance Novel cover Brig decides to add extensions to the man’s hair and then spiral curl her female.

Adee and Faatemah are having a difficult time working together. Adee  wants a fishtail braid for his man, but Faatemah, who doesn’t read romance novels, decides to just follow his “Last of The Mohicans” lead.

At the elimination challenge Camilla brings up that Jon was too harsh on his model but they are safe. Brig and the team of Matthew and Janine are the best of show, with the win going to Matthew. The bottoms two are Faatemah and Adee.  Adee has “incredible vision” but it doesn’t translate to the photo shoot. Faatemah’s models hair is over styled and doesn’t fit the style of the photo.

At the end of the day Faatemah ends up going home.

Everyone seems really surprised and upset that Faatemah is eliminated…is it because Faatemah has immense talent or because no one cares for Adee?

Check out our exclusive interview with Fateemah tomorrow on RealityWanted and tune in to Shear Genius, Wednesdays at 10/9c on Bravo.
