The Real Housewives of Orange County

Tonight’s episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County begins with the Curtin’s receiving that pesky eviction notice! Last week we saw a tiny peak of it at the end of the show. Raquel Curtin answers the door to the eviction notice and then stunned, calls her mom, but not before telling her sister Alexa “I am so hung over I wonder if this is real?”  I have to say, we here, or at least I, know what a hangover looks like, which is why if you look at the last paragraph of last week’s recap, you will see my amazing psychic abilities in action. Behold the wonder.

It seems our Lynne has never handled the finances, but has always had high end tastes, leaving Frank in the lurch and lying to protect all of the women in his family. He was not able to make the deposit for the recently house-warmed house, and they are now being evicted because of the missing $10,000 deposit. Lynne is floored, and storms off after meeting with Frank, to move the girls and herself in with her mother, temporarily. ( a) Lynne is lucky to have her mother b) Poor Frank! He is the only one in this family that is in the reality of today’s economy). Lynne turns to Tamra, to disclose what is going on, and Tamra consoles her.

Vicki finds out from her daughter Briana that after a few years of not feeling well, she has nodules in her throat that may be cancerous and has to have an ultrasound and biopsy to find out what is going on with these nodules and her thyroid. Turns out,Vicki has had similar problems. The girls all have a San Francisco trip planned, and Vicki decides to include Briana in the trip to let her get away for a bit.

Gretchen has lunch with Alexis and they talk about how upset Alexis is with Vicki for being rude at Lynne’s dinner party. Alexis has Jim’s blessing to go to San Fran overnight, since he has meetings. He actually says “Go, have fun!!” but Alexis is concerned. You see, according to her: Jim is not hands on (as a father) and being 47, it has a huge impact on his patience.” Either way, Jim has no issue with her going.

Vicki had decided to go to San Fran to mend fences with all of the girls, and once on the plane, she and Tamra sit together and chat it up like old friends.

Once in San Francisco, the girls all dress it up and go to Fleur De Lys. (Oh! Be still my heart!! Another Bravo collision of worlds when Hubert Keller of Top Chef Masters gives us a cameo)! Alexis takes a call from Jim. Everyone decides what to order for drinks. Alexis takes another call from Jim. The girls decide on a starter. Alexis takes another call from Jim.  Vicki asks her to put it on speakerphone but everyone is really annoyed with Alexis’s obsessed texting and calls from Jim.  Vicki doesn’t think they trust each other.

At dinner, Lynne spills the dirt to everyone. Maybe she should have kept it to herself, because everyone rolls to the Team Frank side. Vicki, again, the voice of reason, says “It stems from the fact that you should know what you owe and who you owe. There are a lot of problems with it, and they (the other housewives) just don’t get it.”

Still at dinner, Alexis takes a bite of Gretchen’s foie gras and spits it in her napkin. Everyone freaks out. Goes to show you, you can take the girl out of Orange County but you can’t take the Orange County out of the girl. Wait!!!!! Isn’t Alexis from like Missouri or something?? Orange County girls, rest easy!

The next day, the girls go shopping. Lynne tries on a leather jacket and then buys it. $1185.00 (cue the sound of the cash register bell ringing it up, Frank dropping to his knees and grasping at his chest, simultaneously). Now, I'm not a math major, but that looks like 1/5 of that pesky deposit they need in order to not get evicted....right?

Later, at lunch, all of the girls squeeze in to a booth and then do a shot together. Vicki is on the phone non-stop, which is hugely hypocritical as far as Alexis is concerned after their night before at Fleur De Lys. Vicki acknowledges that she is on the phone and that they must be upset and Alexis negates being upset about the phone, but if Vicki wants to bring up Lynne’s party, then they have something to talk about.

Bravo, ever the drama reality genius, leaves tonight’s episode there. Brilliant.
