Project Runway Season 7

by Gina Scarpa

Tonight, on Project Runway, the designers were hoping for a challenge that was very New York and, instead, got the complete opposite. They meet their models and Tim Gunn at a farm. The girls are wearing potato sacks and that's the challenge: design something fabulous from a burlap sack for an industry event. The models are the client, and because of that, they get to choose the designers - not the other way around. Ooh, a twist! Jay and Jesus are the first designers picked, while Mila and Janeane are picked last.

The designers hit a makeshift store in the middle of the farm and then get to work back in the comforts of the city. It's going to be interesting to see how they are going to make sexy, fabulous looks out of an item that I used in field day events in grammar school.

In the workroom, things get a little tense for a minute when Mila shoots Anthony an attitude because her model chose him instead of her. Well, it's not HIS fault! Ask your model why she jumped ship.

Tim makes the rounds and stops first at Pamela's station. She wants her design to be a one piece, but he thinks it would make more sense, logistically, as a two piece. She holds her ground and promises she can finish it in time. He gives Ping a piece of valuable advice: make sure the skirt is long enough that the judges can't see up it on the runway. That's a whole different show then. Just as I hope that Jesus is about to redeem himself after landing in the bottom last week, we see that he's hardly using the sack at all and Tim worries it'll come back to bite him.

After the models come in for their fitting, I have one thing to say: Anthony's model is annoying. I bet he wishes that she stayed with Mila.

Tonight's guest judge is model/actress Lauren Hutton. The runway show gets underway and I'm amazed at the designs. You would never know that they were burlap sacks. Well, with one exception. Once again, I have no idea what the hell Ping is doing. Her model's rear end is completely hanging out and it looks she's just wearing a potato sack that is ten times too big for her.

Pamela, Mila, Ping, Jay, Jesus, and Amy are asked to stay while everyone else is sent to safety. I absolutely loved Jay's design and the judges agree, saying that he made burlap look expensive. Nina tells Pamela that her dress is too short and too tight on her model. The new pairing between Mila and her model works out well because Heidi absolutely loves her dress. Ping breaks down crying as she tries to explain and make excuses for her design. Of course, Jesus gets some flack, for not using enough of the burlap. The judges love that Amy took burlap and make it into a real material that works.

After deliberating, it's time for some decisions.  Amy and Mila are in and Jay is the winner of the challenge!  HOORAY!  Good choice, judges.  That dress was AHmazing.  Ping is in.  Yup, once again, she survives.  It comes down to Pamela and Jesus but he gets a second chance and Pamela is out.
