This week started out with a bang on The Real World: DC as the kids took their frustrations and boredom out on a couple beanbags.  The group bonded (sort of) while banging on the beanbags but I have always wondered how boring The Real World house can get when there is no TV and only one computer between all the housemates.  It is like the producers want the cast to get as drunk as possible at all times... which is actually a smart idea and makes for great reality tv.

 

The group goes out and, as expected, there was some immediate flirting going on between a few of the cast mates.  Andrew has received attention from curvy blonde Callie and that’s surprising because Callie is a good-looking girl and Andrew looks like a total virgin. He is baby faced, awkwardly funny and charming, but he can also make a girl laugh.  He badly wants to hook up the first couple days and his target is Callie. She tends to mislead Andrew quite a bit with her bedroom eyes and Andrew keeps striking out with her.
 
Ashley and Michael start making out on the dance floor but that went nowhere as she is insecure with his sexuality. It turns out Michael broke up with his boyfriend right before the trip.  Although it was an amicable split, Michael still has some feelings for him and Ashley did not feel comfortable with a gay male.

 

What once was a physical friendship is now starting to blossom into a real relationship between Ty and Emily. She has stated he looks like her former boyfriend and this couple seems to have the most staying power.  The rest are just hookups and it looks like Ty and Emily like each other for more than just sex.  

 

That night ends with no hookups but only some expected cuddling between Ty and Emily. 

 

A few days later, the cast is invited to a local block party where they meet people who are embarrassed to be on camera and really want their obnoxious neighbors to leave but act like they are friends.  The group ends up on a boat watching fireworks.

Callie misleads Andrew some more, which is totally not cool, and then Andrew strikes out for the last time and declares himself done with Callie. Good for you, buddy!

 

Later in the episode, Michael hooked up with a dopey looking dude but says they only kissed and Andrew is the first one to hook up in the hot tub, finding a girl at a local establishment. 

 

Emily’s sister came into town and criticized Emily for being too crazy and tried to remind her not to embarrass the family name on MTV, a station watched by millions of people. 

 

Next week, we start to learn more about what each castmate is working for and Ty and Emily’s relationship starts to grow.

 

The Real World: DC airs Wednesdays at 10pm ET on MTV.
