Did anyone else think it was weird that, as the finale of So You Think You Can Dance drew near this month, host Cat Deeley did not mention the national tour that the Top 10 dancers would head out on?  No alternate dancers were named (in the way that Caitlin Kinney and Phillip Chbeeb were in season 5 immediately following their elimination).  No dancers spoke, in their interviews with RealityWanted, of upcoming plans to rehearse for the tour or head out on the road and fans started to get a very bad feeling that they wouldn’t be seeing the season 6 dancers come 2010. 

FOX has released a statement regarding the tour, which doesn’t give any definitive answers about whether or not there will be one.  According to the network, "It has been a very unique year for So You Think You Can Dance, with Season 5 and 6 airing back to back and Season 7 auditions starting in January.  Each season we strive to deliver a stellar tour for the fans and are still open to touring opportunities with the Season 6 dancers in the future, but nothing has been set at this time."

So what does this mean?  Well, it could mean that FOX may pair up the season 6 and season 7 dancers and send them out together on tour, starting in the fall of 2010.  However, once season 7 arrives, fans will start to get behind and cheer for a new crop of dancers and memories of certain season 6 dancers and routines may start to fade from people’s minds. 

It’s quite an unfortunate turn of events for the Top 10 or 12 dancers from So You Think You Can Dance, who I can only assume were banking on making the tour and being employed by the show in 2010.  Making the tour, heading out across the country, meeting fans, and getting to perform in sold out arenas is part of the allure of trying out for the show.  If they feel cheated out of that experience or upset with the show for misleading them, they have every right to be.

As season 7 begins to get underway, there will hopefully be word about a season 6 tour or combined tour.  In the meantime, it looks like we may be out of luck in seeing Russell, Jakob, Kathryn, and the rest of the season 6 dancers anytime soon.
