Bianca Revels from So You Think You Can Dance

It seems that the tappers on So You Think You Can Dance this season barely had a foot in the door before they were quickly sent home.  Three tap dancers made it into the Top 20 (a first for the show) but, after last night, only one remains.  Bianca Revels auditioned several seasons in a row before finally making it onto the show.  Last night, her Broadway routine with partner Victor Smalley landed her in the bottom four and the judges decided that it was her time to go home.  Today, Bianca spoke to reporters in a press conference call about her experiences on the show and leaving the competition long before she ever hoped.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you come back season after season to audition for So You Think You Can Dance?
A. Bianca: Every year, I noticed that I grew as a dancer and as a person.  Like I always say: they never had a tapper on the show.  I was really the first one to bring a wide exposure to it.  Why would I just open the door and not walk through it?  I wanted to make sure that I made it to the Top 20 and inspire people to dance.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You had to have been disappointed that America hasn’t had the chance to vote yet.  Was there part of you banking on the fact that fans would remember and vote for you, in the way that they did with Twitch and Brandon in past seasons?
A. Bianca: Yeah, it’s definitely kind of a bummer to not have been able to have the opportunity to be voted for.  You know, it doesn’t end here.  God had me on the show for the amount of time that he wanted me there.  Maybe I’m meant to do other things.

Q. How did you first get into tap dancing?
A. Bianca: I first discovered tap when I was 3 years old.  My mom used to play old school music when she cleaned the house and I would dance around.  I had no rhythm at all and she was like, “Oh no we have to put you in dance class.”  Out of all the dances, tap was my main love.

Q. Are you currently studying dance?
A. Bianca: I was studying dance at Santa Monica College.  I was supposed to graduate with my Associate’s and then transfer to UCLA to finish my Bachelor’s Degree but I postponed that to do the show.

Q. Did you feel that you might be in trouble after last night’s performance?
A. Bianca: I knew that we had given 110% and that’s all I was concerned about.  I don’t like walking off the stage with regrets and I didn’t.

Q. How did you feel when you found out that you were eliminated?
A. Bianca: I mean, I was a little surprised, especially because Phillip and I both got cut at the same time.  Again, it was a bittersweet moment because I had amazing exposure on the show and I got to step out of my element and do a contemporary piece and a Broadway piece.

Q. Do you think that you put everything you had into your routine last night?
A. Bianca: I think I did give 110% and you have to be very careful with a praise dance.  A lot of the time, when you let go of everything, the dance technique tends to get sloppy.  When you’re on a show where you’re going to be judged on your performance and technique, you have to balance the two.  I think my partner and I balanced it well but the judges weren’t crazy about it.

Q. What’s next for you?
A. Bianca: L.A. is my home now.  I want to get into movies.  I also act and I model so I definitely want to get into movies and a lot of print work.  I just want to continue and keep on pushing and moving.

Be sure to tune in when the Top 16 take the stage on So You Think You Can Dance, Tuesday night at 8pm ET on FOX.
