On tonight’s episode of The Hills, some relationships prove that they just can’t take the heat. Last time, Brody and Jayde took a break from their relationship and sparks began to fly between Brody and Kristin. Kristin was enjoying dating Justin but still wasn’t sure if she could trust him. Meanwhile, Heidi was anxious to start a family, but Spencer just wasn’t ready.

Kristin and Brody hang out on the beach. Brody explains that he and Jayde are officially on a break. He loves her but just doesn’t want to fight anymore. Kristin and Brody reminisce about the old times, and Brody wonders what would happen if they tried dating again. He thinks it might work because they are older and more mature now.

Heidi’s birthday is coming up and she asks Spencer to throw her a party. Spencer is a little resistant because he doesn’t want to put in the work it takes to plan one. Heidi won’t hear it, though; she wants him to throw her a birthday bash.

Over at Audrina’s house, Lo catches her up about what has been happening with Jayde and Brody. The girls both received invites to Heidi’s birthday party. Lo can’t make it, but Audrina plans to go and thinks Kristin will be there. She has already cleared things up with Justin, but is worried of what might happen if Kristin comes. She knows they haven’t cleared the air yet, and is hoping there won’t be drama.

Kristin and Justin have dinner together. Kristin tells Justin about her plans to go to Heidi’s party. Justin doesn’t think he will go and hints that there will be a conflict between Kristin and Audrina. He doesn’t want to run into all that. He wonders what would happen if Audrina and Kristin become friends. If they did Justin would want her to tell Kristin everything about him. Kristin asks him if he is hiding something from her, and he swears that he isn’t. Kristin is all about honesty in a relationship and tells him that if he is honest with her, she will be honest with him.

Heidi sets up for her birthday party and Spencer is reluctant to help. They talk about everyone who is coming and it turns out that Brody and Kristin are coming together. Heidi thinks Jayde will still come regardless that she and Brody are on a break. She believes that this is a good opportunity for Kristin and Audrina to talk and put everything behind them.

Audrina and Stephanie drive to the party together. Stephanie tells her that Kristin will be there and Audrina prepares herself. She tells Stephanie about everything Justin said when they met for drinks. Justin doesn’t consider Kristin and him a couple and he still has feelings for Audrina. Stephanie thinks Kristin should know and Audrina feels that it would be good to tell her.

The guests begin to arrive at Speidi’s house and Kristin and Brody are one of the first there. Spencer brings out Heidi’s birthday present that he hopes will calm her baby fever for a while. It is two adorable puppies.

Audrina and Stephanie arrive and Audrina and Brody talk outside alone. He tells her that he and Kristin are hanging out more. Audrina warns Brody about Kristin’s man-eater reputation. She isn’t the relationship type. She dates a guy for a while and then moves on. Audrina would hate to see him break up with Jayde for Kristin and then Kristin to kick him to the curb a couple weeks later.

After their chat, Kristin decides to talk to Audrina privately to try and clear the air. Kristin tells Audrina that she wants things to stop being awkward between them. She tried to clear the air once, but Audrina didn’t care and stood her up when she wanted to meet and talk. Audrina said she felt like they didn’t need to meet before because they weren’t friends. But Kristin still wants to talk to Audrina about her relationship with Justin.

She tells her that when she talked to Justin, he said that he and Audrina were never really together. Kristin tries to break the news easily saying that she knows as a woman that it’s hard to hear. But Audrina hits her right back with some upsetting news. She tells Kristin that when she met with Justin, he said that he doesn’t consider Kristin his girlfriend and that he still had feelings for her. But Kristin doesn’t really believe her. Audrina tells her that she just wants them to keep their distance and Kristin tells her that she is done with her. Audrina leaves the party.

The next morning Kristin tells Stacie about everything that happened at the party. Kristin has no more respect for Justin now. She is upset that he lied to her about seeing Audrina and thinks that he lied to her about everything. She understands now why he didn’t want her to go to the party, so she wouldn’t find out that he has been hanging out with Audrina. Kristin thinks she has given him enough chances and plans to end things today.

Stephanie, Lo and Audrina meet for lunch. They give Lo the low down on what happened at Heidi’s. They don’t feel like Kristin really likes Justin and think she is just dating him out of spite towards Audrina.

Kristin and Justin also meet for lunch. Kristin tells him that she ran into Audrina at Heidi’s party and heard that they are back together. Justin finally tells the truth, that he and Audrina met for drinks, but that was all. Kristin tells him that she can’t trust him and doesn’t think it will work out. Justin doesn’t understand her motive and thinks it is to get a rise out of him. Kristin tells him that she is done, and leaves him at the table.

The Hills airs Tuesdays at 10pm on MTV.
