The Amazing Race 15

Last time on The Amazing Race, the teams flew to Dubai, where they had to conquer the hottest of the heat, then to coldest of the cold (artificially, of course). Meghan and Cheyne won the only Fast Forward on the race, pushing them to another first place victory. Meanwhile, Lance and Keri lagged behind the whole leg, leading them to a last place finish and a swift elimination from the race.

The teams are still in Dubai this week, no doubt up to more wild and crazy tasks that no one thought would exist in the desert. Their first stop: the Dubai Creek Yacht Club. Meghan and Cheyne depart first and make quick time of their first clue to stumble upon the leg’s Roadblock. For their task, one member from each team had to row to an anchored yacht offshore, get a watch, then row back and open the suitcase with a combination based off the watch (which is stuck at 8:35).

Surprisingly, everyone had a fairly easy time answering the clue. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t that hard of a clue to begin with, but given the stuff we’ve seen on this race, I was a little shocked. Only the Globetrotters has a little trouble, even getting passed up by Mika and Canaan, but they didn’t let it phase them that much.

Inside the briefcase is a clue to go to the Abra station, where a bunch of water taxis are waiting for them. At this point, teams encounter their detour: Gold or Glass. In gold, teams had to weigh in $500,000 worth of gold, considering all the rules and the constantly changing price of gold. In glass, teams had to assemble 12 hookahs. I’m not a fan of smoking, but the hookahs seems a lot easier to do.

However, I was wrong. Brian and Ericka and Sam and Dan attempt the gold first before switching. Meanwhile, Maria and Tiffany jump into the gold task and finish it fairly quick, rocketing them out to the head. Meghan and Cheyne assembled their hookahs easily, but everyone else couldn’t seem to do it. Brian and Ericka are out next, followed by Gary and Matt, leaving Mika and Canaan and the Globetrotters in a head for last.

The teams head for Atlantis Resort where, finally, they’ll be doing something bad-ass. They must each slide down the Leap of Faith, a six-story water slide that drops nearly straight down. After the drop, they’ll slide under the resort’s shark tank before hitting the pool below.  Meghan and Cheyne finish first, followed by Maria and Tiffany, Sam and Dan, Brian and Ericka and Gary and Matt. Then enter Mika and Canaan.

I think it’s been well establish that Mika doesn’t like heights. Or water. Or anything really. So she’s standing at the top of the slide refusing to go down, even when Canaan says something. The Globetrotters arrive after them, giving Mika and Canaan a two-minute warning. She lets it expire, especially after Flight and Big talk trash to her, letting the two go ahead of her. Canaan ends up heading down the slide after while Mika watches, knowing that they’re checking in last.

The teams finished as follows:

1st: Meghan and Cheyne

2nd: Maria and Tiffany

3rd: Sam and Dan

4th: Brian and Ericka

5th: Gary and Matt

6th: Flight Time and Big Easy

7th: Mika and Canaan
