This week, on The Biggest Loser, the drama hit an all time high after Tracey won the ability to choose the new teams and trainers for every player in the game. She stayed with Bob as her trainer and kept Mo on her team, then sent Daniel and Shay to Jillian’s black team, just as they would want. From there, she split every other team up, causing tears, heartache, and anger. When her blue team fell below the yellow line, it seemed that it was the end for Tracey… until her partner sacrificed himself so that she could stay. Today, Coach Mo spoke to RealityWanted in an exclusive interview about his experiences on the show and his journey to the finale.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What motivated you to try out for The Biggest Loser this season?
A. Coach Mo: I was motivated by a dare from one of the parents from my organization. When it became real, I decided to do it for my family, my wife, my children, and grandchildren. Then, I thought of the children that I work with and how it could affect them. All were motivating factors.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Did you think you would make it this far after that first challenge?
A. Coach Mo: I always wanted to go and work, learn, and stay above the yellow line. I felt that I could go all the way. I never compete to lose. I knew it was going to be hard but I always felt I could do it.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What did you truly think of Tracey and how did you feel about all the game play that went on?
A. Coach Mo: I made it clear with everyone that I never wanted to play the game, that I was going to be true to myself. Tracey was not the only one playing the game, everyone was. Tracey just was in plain sight. Tracey was just trying to survive a situation that none of the others experienced, or cared about. I know about that place, the pain and fear of not being allowed to do what you know it will take to compete or just to live. Tracey made some decisions that, if she had lost that challenge, someone else would have had to make and I promise you they would have been similar.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you think that you could have performed better had you had someone else as a teammate?
A. Coach Mo: Tracey did not bother my performance. I worked hard for myself and my team. Through the pain and the injuries, I would have done that no matter what.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: When it came time to change from pairs to blue vs. black, were you set on working with Bob?
A. Coach Mo: I always had Bob on my mind as a trainer. He understood the pain and had compassion with structure and he worked my butt off. He is the only trainer I knew.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Why did you decide to sacrifice yourself this week?
A. Coach Mo: I saw the division and the game play. I thought about the injury that I had just gotten and thought, along with the other ones, this may hurt the team. I knew that everyone, I mean everyone, wanted Tracey gone and she did not have the chance to really experience the ranch. I thought about being the lowest number on the scale and the lack of applause for Tracey, which I thought was sending the wrong signal. Something inside just kept saying, “Do the right thing,” and that is what I told all my teammates.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What is your goal for the finale?
A. Coach Mo: My goal is to come to the finale and win. Like I said, I don't compete to lose. I would like to be at 210.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What are you doing at home to continue your weight loss journey?
A. Coach Mo: Proper eating and working out 4 times a day, pushing myself all the time. I got behind due to some terrible things that have happened since I have been home - my father passed, my niece passed, and we had a flood and I lost a lot of my possessions, but I am back up and getting started back on the journey.
