“High Heels and Record Deals”

 

This week’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta comes after the news that Ashley “A.J.” Jewell was tragically killed on October 2nd, 2009 in Atlanta. A.J. was Kandi’s fiancé, although the couple was on “hiatus” according to an Essence article with Kandi in September. Because the series was taped in the spring of this year, Kandi’s loss will not be covered on the show. Poor Kandi! Our thoughts and prayers are with her and the Jewell family as well.

 

Tonight’s show begins with Kim shopping for her daughters. She has invited Kandi to meet her out, to apologize for not showing up to Kandi’s show. Her excuse that her daughter was sick falls short with Kandi, but she lets it go. She admits to Kim that her mother is still having trouble with her engagement, and doesn’t believe that A.J. is the one for her. A.J. has suggested family counseling and Kandi’s mom has agreed!

 

NeNe and Lisa are meet to discuss NeNe’s charity Twisted Hearts Foundation and the event she is putting together called “Heel the Soul”. This will be a race in high heels to benefit domestically abused women. The charity hits home for the women, who have both been victims of domestic violence. NeNe is also revisiting her paternity quest, now that she is co-authoring a book.  NeNe isn’t sure how to move forward with finding her biological father. There are rumors that it is someone named Alan, a former friend of Curtis. Curtis is the man who NeNe always believed was her father. Either way, she is planning a trip back to Athens, with Denene Millner, her co-author, to show her around. Perhaps that will involve a meeting with the man that could potentially be her real father.

 

Lisa visits Kandi and they talk about Ed’s desire to play football again. Ed’s knee is really shot, and Lisa knows that Ed, who has been playing since the age of 7, really wants to play again. He has been training, but his knee just isn’t healing. He is very upset, but in the end, Ed realizes that because he has a family, it is time to “hang up his cleats” and not risk getting hurt further. Later, Lisa decides to take a pregnancy test, but it comes back negative.

 

Sheree puts together a promotional video to address what and who She by Sheree is. She and Dwight meet at the W Hotel to do a walk through for the fashion show. According to Dwight he “was a gift from God to help Sheree.” During the meeting, Dwight takes over, and Sheree is stunned by his domination of the meeting. She mentions the Promo Video and Dwight doesn’t like the idea. Finally Sheree has to step in. After all, “It’s not He by Dwight, it’s She by Sheree, so I’m the head diva in charge” as Sheree puts it.

 

Kandi is trying to regain her fans, and after her first show, she realizes that she has missed being in the spotlight. She has scheduled a meeting with Leonard “L.B.” Brooks of Capitol Records in LA. The meeting goes great and Kandi signs the deal.

 

NeNe’s charity event is a hit! “Heel The Soul” High Heel Run is great, and everyone comes out to support the charity. Except Kim…of course. On the way to the event Dwight drops the bomb on NeNe that Kim has just become engaged to Big Papa. NeNe, never one to mince words, thinks it is crazy for Kim to be running around town saying that she is engaged to a married man who still lives with his wife and family.

 

Meanwhile, Kim, even though she is back with Big Papa, is moving forward with her wig line. She has to have some way to support and pay for that Black Am/Ex card, which according to Kandi, you have to spend $250k annual in order to obtain. Must be nice…

 

Also, a side note: Bravo has announced that it is in production on The Real Housewives of D.C. which will be airing, along with Season 2 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, sometime in 2010!
