On tonight’s episode of Project Runway, the designers meet up with Tim Gunn and Macy’s Executive VP Martine Reardon to learn about their next challenge, which will be all about color – blue, to be exact.  The designers will have to create two looks for the Ink clothing line.  The winner will design a holiday dress for Macy’s, which is a huge deal.  It all sounded good until Tim says that they’re going to have to work in pairs.  Nobody ever likes to work in teams and you can’t really blame them.  Everyone’s taste is different and everyone has their own ideas about what the designs should look like.

 

After each designer pitches their ideas to Martine, she names the team leaders: Irina, Althea, Carol Hannah, Christopher, and Louise.  Based on their ideas, I think Martine made the right decision.  Althea chooses Logan, Christopher goes with Epperson, Louise decides to work with Nicolas, Irina picks Gordana, which leaves Carol Hannah and Shirin together.  Before the shopping trip to Mood, Tim lets them know that no one will be winning immunity tonight.  Stakes just got higher.

 

Back in the workroom, Tim makes the rounds to see how things are going.  Carol Hannah debates changing colors on one of her designs and Tim backs her on it, saying she’s 80% there.  At Louise’s station, Tim remarks that the fabrics she’s working with are very different.  He sees potential and hopes that she and Nicolas will keep their eyes out for anything that looks “awry”.  I love Tim.  Althea is pretty cool.  She’s always been chosen as a team leader and has a style that seems very accessible to the everyday woman. 

It seems like Gordana and Irina aren’t seeing eye to eye when they try to explain their looks to Tim.  Last up is Christopher and while the guy can design an outfit, his two looks don’t exactly go together.

 

Tonight’s judges are: Martine Reardon, Michael Kors (yes, he’s back!), and Zanna Roberts, senior editor for Marie Claire magazine.  My two favorite teams tonight are Carol Hannah and Shirin as well as Christopher and Epperson.  I would buy any of their looks in Macy’s tomorrow. 

 

Althea and Logan are safe but time out.  Christopher and Epperson are in the bottom!  WHAT?!  First, Heidi talks to the top teams – Carol Hannah and Shirin and Irina and Gordana.  Despite being at the top, Irina throws Gordana under the bus, calling her shy as a designer.  I started out this season really liking Irina but as the episodes wear on, she loses more and more points with me for her personality.

 

Zanna tells Louise that if she walked into Macy’s and saw her dress, she’d turn around and walk right back out.  Ouch.  Heidi tells Nicolas that he’s lucky that he has immunity this week, since he is part of Louise’s team tonight.  Heidi also feels that Christopher’s outfits are not modern at all.  Michael thinks that the shirt dress looks like a tablecloth and as his critique go on, Christopher breaks down.  I don’t blame him.  You can give feedback without being mean and condescending. 

 

Shirin is in.  Irina is named the winner of this challenge… I was hoping for a Carol Hannah victory but I'll get over it.  Gordana and Carol Hannah are both in as are Epperson and Nicolas.  After telling Louise that her dresses looked like bad, overworked bridesmaids dresses, Heidi tells her she's out.  Christopher is still in - THANK GOD.  I would throw something at my tv if they sent him home.

 

Project Runway airs Thursday nights at 10pm ET on Lifetime.
