The Biggest Loser 8

By David McAlpine

Last time on The Biggest Loser, the contestants were met with a challenge from Alison: if they can collectively manage to lose 150 pounds, no one would be going home that week. If they failed, however, two people would be eliminated. After a couple challenges, they were able to knock to goal down to 110 pounds, which some were still skeptical about meeting. After all was said and done, the final 15 ended up losing over 150 pounds, giving everyone another week on the ranch.

Now that they’ve all gotten past the dreaded “week two,” it’s time for another challenge from Alison: each team can opt for a two-pound advantage at this week’s weigh-in if they choose not to have Bob or Jillian’s help this week. The only one to take it is Tracey, who, until this point, has seemed borderline desperate to lose weight. Her partner, Mo, is not happy with the decision, but he’s stuck with it.

But it got even crazier when Alison came at the contestants with a temptation, too. If anyone tried to eat as many cupcakes as they could, they would be able to control the week’s weigh-in. Tracey (surprise, surprise) stepped up, as did Antoine, but he lost 4-2, which gave her even more power. Not only does she have the weight advantage, but she gets to select which member of each team will represent the weight loss for both members (which just spells trouble for Amanda and the Pink Team).

At this point, everyone seems to think Tracey is going nuts. Jillian says she thought Tracey may have been panicking when she took the first deal, but the second deal was so shocking, no one really knew what to say. I think Tracey must have hit her head hard, because it seems like she’s playing a completely different game than everyone else here.

Injury strikes again on the ranch when Abby finds out she has a small stress fracture in her tibia, forcing her to go a little lighter on her exercising. Unfortunately for her, it also meant she had to sit out the challenge, where the contestants had to pull 25 pounds worth of weights up a ramp. They had the option to pull 5 pounds at a time up over a shorter distance or 25 pounds over a longer distance. It didn’t end up mattering that Abby sat out, because Allen won the challenge, giving him and her immunity for the week.

Meanwhile, everyone is all over Tracey because they can see how intense of a game player she is. The sad part about it is that she’s probably going to need the ranch more than anyone, yet she’ll be the first to go if she’s ever vulnerable because of how unpredictable she is.

And unpredictable she was—in a predictable way. When I was watching this, I thought that this was the Biggest Loser, no one would try to manipulate the weigh-ins this early and play the game like someone would Survivor or Big Brother. With Tracey on this cast, however, I’m dead wrong. The Pink Team approached her and asked her to pick Rebecca (since Amanda has been the notorious under-loser), and Orange did the same, asking her to choose Daniel.

But when it came to decision time, she picked Amanda for Pink and Shay for Orange. Is this girl for real? The results of the weigh-in were as follows:

IMMUNE:

Abby: -5 (-2.26%)

Allen: -4 (-1.35%)

Tracey: -11 (-4.82%)

Mo: -1 (-0.31%)

Rudy: -12 (-3.00%)

Dina: -3 (-1.27%)

Amanda: -5 (-2.08%)

Rebecca: -7 (-2.75%)

Julio: -8 (-1.87%)

Liz: -4 (-1.62%)

Danny: -4 (-1.02%)

Sean: -6 (-1.46%)

Antoine: -11 (-3.23%)

Shay: -6 (-1.35%)

Daniel: -6 (-2.05%)

With that, the Red Team and the Orange Team both fell below the yellow line, meaning one is going home. Everyone is very upset with Tracey and how the weigh-in went down, but she seems to have little to no problem with the fact that she just upset the entire cast and both the trainers.

The debate is full of tears and emotions, but Antoine and Sean say they can go home because they think they have the ability to do it. Plus, really, who’s going to go if they’re up against Shay? She’s the epitome of inspiration on this show. All the votes that were shown were for Antoine and Sean, making them the first team eliminated from the Biggest Loser.

Since going home, both Antoine and Sean have made significant progress on their way to their goals. Sean has lost 120 pounds and has a baby girl named Jillian (so cute!), while Antoine has lost 105 pounds and it currently dating Alexandra, the first eliminee of the show.

Was Tracey’s move the right one? Be sure to watch The Biggest Loser on NBC, next Tuesday at 8/7c to see the aftermath!
