On Project Runway, the 11 remaining designers find out that for tonight’s challenge, they’ll be doing something that Los Angeles and Hollywood are known for: designing costumes.  There are five different film genres that they’ll be able to pick from.  As the winner of last week’s challenge, Irina chooses first and goes with Film Noir, as do Louise and Althea.  Logan and Carol Hannah choose Action/Adventure, Ra’mon and Nicolas go with Science Fiction, and Jordana and Christopher decide on Period Piece.  Epperson and Shirin are the last to pick and get stuck with Western.

As if it’s not difficult enough to quickly design a costume, they’re only going to have 24 hours to complete it and a $150 budget.  In the workroom, their ideas come to life while sketching.  Shirin thinks of going for a saloon girl look, while Carol Hannah wants to make a sexy assassin.  A die hard Trekkie, Ra’mon is looking forward to creating an out of this world look and Christopher gets a little frustrated because the budget does not allow him to purchase the material he really wants to work with.

Ra’mon’s design is pretty horrible… he’s going for a green jumpsuit with yellow, sparkly pieces sewn on.  Tim Gunn makes the rounds and stops there first, voices his concern, which causes Ra’mon to scrap his outfit and start again.  At Christopher’s station, he feels that Christopher has made a mistake by not using sleeves on his Victorian dress.  Louise is confused about which decade to go with, the 1920s or 1940s, so she combines the two and hopes her dress will stand out on the runway.  Nicolas is making a dress for an ice queen and it looks very promising as does Epperson’s Western look.

The revolving door of judges continues.  Tonight, we have Marie Claire editor Zoe Glassner (who, to be fair, has been on a few times now), fashion designer John Varvatos, and costume designer Arianne Phillips.  The runway show gets underway and I really like: Carol Hannah, Shirin, Nicolas, Epperson, Christopher, and Gordana.

Logan, Carol Hannh, Shirin, Irina, and Althea are all deemed safe.  I can’t believe it but, for the second week in a row, Gordana is in the bottom.  I don’t even understand how this can be.  Her dress has tons of detail and, while I agree that maybe it’s not the most exciting dress in the bunch, it’s most certainly not one of the worst, especially considering she’s standing with Louise and Ra’mon.   Nicolas is named the winner, and it’s definitely deserved, though I really loved what Epperson did… and Christopher, for that matter.  It truly could’ve gone any way there.

So it ends up coming down to Louise or Ra’mon.  Louise is not able to bring a wow factor to the runway while Ra’mon’s outfit is just poorly constructed.  The judges decide that, though he tried his best to throw together that second design, Ra’mon just wasn’t cutting it for them and he is eliminated from the competition.

Project Runway airs Thursday nights at 10pm ET on Lifetime.
