America's Next Top Model Cycle 13 Courtney

by Gina Scarpa

This week, on America’s Next Top Model, Rachel was sent home in a surprising elimination after an interview challenge.  The remaining models continued on to the photo challenge, which took place at a race track.  The girls posed topless (with long wigs covering them up) along with a jock and a horse.  Two girls with bad attitudes in the shoot, Bianca and Courtney ended up in the bottom two and the judges sent Courtney and her broken foot home.  Today, she spoke to RealityWanted in an exclusive interview about her experience on the show.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you want to try out for Top Model this season?  Have you watched previous seasons of the show?
A. Courtney: I’ve watched it but I never thought about trying out.  I didn’t consistently watch the seasons or episodes but I know the show and I know the game.  I never really decided to try out.  I was kind of forced.  My girlfriend was visiting me and she said we were going out to lunch and she dropped me off at the audition.  She was like, “There is nothing you can do about this.”

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Even though you were only in the competition for a short period of time, are you glad that you were part of this cycle?
A. Courtney: Oh definitely!  I have no regrets.  It was an amazing experience.  I made it into the house and I’m not upset that I was eliminated.  It’s an accomplishment to make it into the top 14.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Can you clarify your injury?  One week, you said you broke your leg and the other, you said it was your foot.
A. Courtney: I broke my heel while tumbling in a cheerleading competition.  I was pretty upset because I was like, “Of course this would happen.”  I mean, no one wants to be in a boot for this.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was it like to meet Tyra in person for the first time?
A. Courtney: I was really excited to meet her.  I’ve always followed modeling, even before she did Top Model.  When she did Victoria’s Secret, I loved her.  It was great and she is just as beautiful in person.  She’s a giant, she’s so tall.  She’s huge.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: When you found out that this week’s photo shoot could have involved nudity, how did you feel?
A. Courtney: I didn’t have a problem with nudity or posing on a horse.  It’s modeling and you gotta be open minded and ready for change.  I was ready for change but it was a tough photo shoot and I ended up disappointed in myself.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Were you surprised that you were eliminated on last night’s episode?
A. Courtney: No, I definitely understood.  I didn’t argue.  I agreed with the judges.  I handled it professionally and I realized that I didn’t have a great shoot.  My picture didn’t come out bad but my attitude sucked so I wasn’t surprised.  What was not great was that I lost to Bianca.  She was in the bottom two two weeks in a row and her attitude didn’t change.  Her picture was tragic compared to mine.  To be next to someone who should’ve been out week one, it was like, “Oh man…”

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Will you continue modeling?
A. Courtney: Yes, it’s always been a passion of mine.  I did it before the show and now, I’m back with my agency.  I’m excited to see what this will bring.  I’m with a great agency in Miami and I can’t wait to see what this year brings.
