Big Brother 11: Week 7 Eviction Recap

Big Brother 11 Natalie and Russell

By David McAlpine

Last time on Big Brother 11, Jeff started getting concerned with the decisions he was making. Though he had the only two people against him in the house nominated, he began to have second thoughts about Russell. Jeff won the Power of Veto and let Kevin and Natalie get to him, replacing Kevin with Russell on the block.

Flash to post-veto, and Russell is pissed. I mean, we all knew it was coming, but I really didn’t expect him to be this angry. Considering all the other stuff that has gone down in this house and how counterproductive it’s been for every single person that has walked out this door, I thought Russell would have a little common sense and try to play his strategy on the downlow.

But no such hope could be found in tonight’s episode. Per usual, Russell goes around the house trying to irk everyone possible, hoping that he can take Jeff down with him. I think he’s having a replay of week 2 in his head with Ronnie, but I’m not sure he realizes that, this week, he’s actually vulnerable for elimination. And what are Kevin and Natalie doing? Laughing all the way to the next week, because it’s obvious at this point that they’re both safe.

What I don’t seem to understand is that Kevin and Natalie keep saying that it’s two on two for the next HoH competition: them two vs. Michele and Jordan. Honestly, if I were Michele, I would forego any loyalties I had at this point because being the middle man is the worst position to have with two strong final twos. Yet everyone seems to think that she’ll still side with Jordan and Jeff.

Then cue a long series of screaming matches, where it basically ends up being Jeff and Russell yelling at each other to see who can be the most immature. Enter Jordan, who tries to diffuse the fight by prompting Jeff to shut up. Russell, however, won’t have it, and goes after Jordan by calling her fat, which sends her over the edge. She runs across the lawn, swearing up a storm, and chest bumps Russell. No joke, she looks like she’s going to sock the guy, but she contains herself. All she can muster now is to scream about how Russell is leaving the house.

Finally Russell wises up and confronts Kevin, offering him up a solid plan: if Kevin keeps him, they can work together and they’ll be strong enough to beat Jeff and Jordan. Not to mention that Russell is the most hated person in the house and is an easy beat in the final two as well as clearly the biggest target in the house. I have to admit, the guy makes a compelling case, especially against Natalie, who could be the dark horse in this competition.

Cut to the jury house, where we get to see the post-eviction Lydia and Jessie reunion. If you recall, when Jessie was voted out, Lydia specifically said she wasn’t too happy with Jessie because of the way he handled her and Natalie. So I’m not at fault for expecting a little friction, am I?

And the best thing that Lydia can deliver? Jessie a “jerkopotamous.” Really? Is that it? Then the two talk about Chima’s meltdown and how she won’t be joining them in the jury house, and Jessie admits that he would vote for Jeff if he made it to the end of the game.

Jeff has little to say in his HoH chat other than how much he hopes Jordan can win HoH again. Both Natalie and Russell are overly nice in their speeches (Natalie even thanks CBS—what is this, the Emmys?), and it’s finally time to vote. The votes go as follows:

Jordan: RUSSELL

Kevin: RUSSELL

Michele: RUSSELL

Oh Russell, you didn’t even have a chance. By a 3-0 vote, the Love Muscle is on his way out the door, with surprisingly no hissy fit. Outside the house, Russell even admits that Jeff made the smartest move he could this week and he would vote for him if he makes it to the end. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m really underestimating how well Jeff is playing this game, because I never expected people like Russell and Jessie to openly admit they would vote for Jeff to win.

Wrapping up, it’s HoH time! But, just like last week, it’s another quasi-endurance competition. This time, the houseguests have to run back and forth on a slippery surface with a small teapot and move hot cocoa from a vat to a container on the other end of the mat to a full enough point where they can grab the marshmallow on top. Whether or not we like CBS’ rating-grabbing plans, we’re left hanging until Sunday.

Be sure to tune in to Big Brother 11 on Sunday at 8/7c on CBS to see who wins HoH and which two houseguests they nominate for eviction!
