Hell's Kitchen Season 6

by Gina Scarpa

On tonight’s episode of Hell’s Kitchen, the blue team begins to feel that they’d have a better chance of succeeding without Robert.  Last week, he was rushed to the hospital and has yet to return.  They’ll have to worry about that because it’s time for another challenge.  Chef Ramsay breaks out a craps table and has the chefs roll dice that have letters on it.  They’ll have to choose an ingredient that starts with the letter that they roll.

Suzanne rolls R first and picks rabbit… why?  The red team goes with rabbit, green beans, potatoes, garlic, and ham hock.  They may have come up with a decent list of ingredients but they DO realize that they have to make this, right?  Andy rolls an H for the blue team and chooses haddock.  The blue team then picks figs (ugh – thanks to Dave), angel hair pasta, apples, and tomatoes.  Jeez, they’re screwed.

When the teams present their dishes, it ends up being a surprising decision – the blue team wins!  The red team overused the garlic, which seems to be Ariel’s fault while the blue team brilliantly used the figs to sweeten up the tomato sauce on the angel hair pasta.  The blue team is headed to Vegas for their prize while the red team gets to deal with delivery day.  Watching them haul that stuff makes me have sympathy pains for them.

As soon as the blue team returns from Vegas, Robert arrives back from his trip to the hospital.  No one on his team seems too excited to see him.  He’s back cooking, whether anybody likes or not so hopefully he pulls his weight… that’s not a pun.

In tonight’s dinner service, there will be a chef’s table that will seat executive chefs from his New York and Los Angeles restaurants.  The blue team gets their appetizers right out, while the red team is criticized by the chef’s table for using too much salt.  The love for the blue team doesn’t last long because they serve plastic in one of their dishes to a diner.  Right after, plastic wrap shows up on the plate of another diner.  That is so gross!  I don’t blame Ramsay one bit for being pissed about this.

The blue team may have won the challenge earlier, but they are tanking fast in this challenge.  Even Golden Boy Kevin can’t seem to escape Ramsay’s wrath tonight.  He’s had enough of the blue team and shuts down Hell’s Kitchen.    That obviously means the red team are the winners.   Dave is named the winner for doing a solid job on appetizers… and with one good arm!

After debating upstairs, Dave nominates Robert and Van for elimination but Ramsay had other ideas.  He calls Andy to the front as well and Van is put back in line.  The guy managed to serve plastic wrap to diners and he gets a second chance.  I’m left shaking my head at that one.  Robert says that he has never been nominated for eviction once and then attacks Andy, saying that he’s not there for the team and is always screwing around.  Then, he flips out and says that if Andy wins, he will hang up his chef's jacket for life.  Calm down, dude.  You're gonna give yourself a heart attack!

In the end, Ramsay tells Andy to get back in line and gives him a second chance.  He doesn't excuse the fact that Robert has had more dinner services than anyone else and served raw food tonight.  He's todl to take off his jacket and leave.
