Hell's Kitchen Season 6

by Gina Scarpa

On tonight’s episode of Hell’s Kitchen, the women try to find a way to boost team morale and save their team from completely imploding.  They’ll have to work together in tonight’s first challenge, in which Chef Gordon Ramsay asks both teams to create a healthy menu – an appetizer, entrée, and dessert that totals only 700 calories.  Robert jokes that he takes 700 calorie bites… at least, I think it was a joke.

The challenge finally gives Sabrina the chance to step up, who counts calories in her job back home on a daily basis.  Van feels that he has the perfect menu, until the experts on hand let him know that he’s way over his calorie count.  Seems like this is a lot harder than it looks!  Ramsay couldn’t find a bad word to say about either appetizer and awards each team one point.  The women earn a point for the entrée, with Ramsay feeling that theirs was a more generous portion as well as more flavorful.  He gets back to true form when he catches a glimpse of the men’s dessert, calling it absolute crap.  It’s no surprise then that, thanks to Sabrina, the women walk away with a win.

For their prize, the women will have all three dishes on the menu tonight.  The men will have to do all of the shopping for the ingredients.  The red team also gets to spend the day on the beach playing volleyball with Olympic athlete Annett Davis.  They get to learn some new skills and play a few games.  Well, that’s a hell of a lot better than shopping and doing food prep back at the kitchen!  The men are forced to ride strange bicycles to the market, which sends Robert to the hospital.  Stop with the 700 calorie bites, man.  He’s out of the game for the night.

During dinner service, Ramsay just about loses his mind on Jim, feeling that his risotto is way too peppery.  Tennille receives an earful for not portioning her spinach correct and gets called a lazy cow.  Things only get worse for Jim, who can’t seem to get out a single dish.    Back to Tennille, who calls Ramsay crap and says a lot of choice words to him after being pushed too far.  She just about gets thrown out of the kitchen before she agrees to shut her mouth and continue to cook.

After attacking just about everybody in the kitchen, Ramsay shuts down Hell’s Kitchen for the night.  Both teams lose and one member from each team is going to be up for elimination.  I could’ve predicted this about 20 minutes ago, to be honest with you.  Sabrina and Andy are nominated – it’s slightly surprising that Tennille isn’t nominated again, even though I like her.  Because of Sabrina’s performance in the earlier challenge, it’s hard to imagine that Ramsay will eliminate her.

In a shocking move, Ramsay decides to eliminate... neither.  Instead, he picks Jim out of the crowd and tells him to take off his jacket.  He doesn't feel that Jim has the heart to continue cooking and sends him on his way.  His final words to Jim: "You're not the Tin Man and I'm not the Wizard of Oz."  Ouch.
