In any reality competition, from Survivor to America’s Next Top Model, there is usually a contestant here or there who just can’t hack it.  They can’t handle the pressure and they go crying back home to their normal lives.  On Big Brother, though, it’s a move never seen before… until this week.  On Day 42 of being in the Big Brother house, contestant Chima Benson walked out, never to return.

** WARNING!  SPOILERS AHEAD! **

According to BigBrotherGossip.com, Chima headed outside yesterday without a microphone on.  Big Brother asked her to put it on and she refused.  Kevin got her microphone, which she then threw in the hot tub.  Lydia and Natalie got it out of the water, but the damage was done.  The feeds cut out around this time and it was unclear whether or not Chima was asked to leave or quit on her own.  However, BigBrotherLiveFeeds.com says that, judging by the way the other houseguests are talking, it was Chima’s choice.

It will definitely be interesting to see how this will affect the upcoming episodes.  Big Brother will certainly have to explain and show her dramatic exit.  Chima was one of the nominees this week, courtesy of HOH Michele, and will certainly have to be replaced on the block.  This week is also supposed to be Big Brother Fast Forward, where the houseguests have to play a week’s worth of the game in a single night.  On Thursday’s live eviction episode, two houseguests will be headed home.  Chima’s early exit could mean that CBS will rethink that plan or even change the finale date.  They’ll also need another member of the jury, if she refuses to fulfill that obligation, in order to have an odd number of people voting for the winner.

Love her or hate her, Chima certainly messed up the 11th season of Big Brother by walking out the door.  How do you think Chima’s exit will affect the game from here on out?

08.15.2009     CBS Statement Regarding Chima on Big Brother:   "Chima has been evicted by the producers from the Big Brother house for violating the rules. She will not be part of the show's jury. Her eviction will be addressed on an upcoming broadcast of the show."

Watch her pre-move in interview - she said her sole purpose was to win the 500K grand prize. She also said that she had hoped to play against Jesse of Big Brother 10 without knowing he would be back this season.
