Castello Malaspina di Fosdinovo – Fosdinovo, Italy

This Castle is over 700 years old and was transferred to the Malaspina family in the 1340’s.  Two very creepy stories are buried in the history of this old “home”.  One story concerns a girl, a daughter of one of the former families named Bianca, who fell in love with a farm hand.  Obviously the wealthy father was not going to allow this to continue so he buried her alive in a brick wall coffin.  The bones of this girl were later found during a renovation project.   Another story concerns a promiscuous lady who used to bring her lovers to her room, a room which had a trap door going straight down to the torture chamber.  After there love making activities were finished she would send them to the trap door spot and the rest was history.

Robb Demarest and Ashley Godwin began investigating in the torture chamber and did hear some noises and possible responses to their questions.  Dustin Pari and Brandy Green began their investigation in the Dungeon where the girl was buried alive in the walls.  They didn’t have any experiences so hopefully their EVP would reveal more.   Robb and Barry Fitzgerald spent some time in one of the heads of the castles bedroom where doors have been seen opening and closing and cold spots or breezes have been experienced by the caretakers.  At one point Robb did feel this cool breeze come through and Barry believed he saw some light spots leading out the door.  Ashley was left alone in the Dungeon hoping to make contact with Bianca, the girl buried alive in the walls, and she believed that she saw a face coming from behind a curtain.  It was not long after this that she began her questioning and started to get responses back from the EMF detector.  Could Bianca actually have been communicating with her?  The team spent the night at the Castle and hoped to gain some more evidence.

The team did have a lot of personal experiences, including the EMF detector exchange caught on camera in the Dungeon.  One of the more chilling EVP session results came when Robb was in his room for the night and asked if it was “okay that he was staying in the room?”  The answer came back on the EVP as a resounding “No.”  There were a few other items caught on the recorders, mostly noises after questions were being asked so it’s possible the spirits were trying to communicate.  Another EVP session was able to catch a response back from Joe Chin after he asked in there was anyone there that would like to talk with them.  The answer was “Yes” but nothing else was caught.  The team believed there was enough evidence to say that there were some ghosts in the castle and that means a result of “Haunted” for the viewers.

Palazzo Ducale – Genoa, Italy

This huge palace held many of the former government officials in the city of Genoa but also served as a prison. Voices, strange noises, chain dragging sounds in the former prison cells, a white mist, and the music and ghostly figure of a famous violinist, once held in the prison, are just a few of the reported paranormal activities.

Robb and Brandy started a EVP session hoping to come into contact with one former government official who was poisoned and died during his time in office.  Nothing unearthly was audible so maybe something will get caught in the white noise when they review the evidence.  Barry and Joe started their investigation in the prison area and began trying to communicate with some of the inmates that were murdered while imprisoned.  Some squealing noises and maybe that of a crying baby were heard.  Ashley and Dustin spent some time in the basement and while they were asking questions a loud bang came from another part of the room, but they could not find a source.  Another big bang occurred after more questions and it was becoming apparent that something was trying to communicate with them.  Spoiler alert, it was the ice maker in what was a bar area.  Important because this ice machine may have been creating false positives for those working there hearing noises.  It’s always best to be able to rule out items so that more focus can be put in other areas.

The team really had to battle some of the natural noises occurring in and around the Palazzo and seemed to find a lot of sources of the sounds from light fixtures, birds, aforementioned ice makers, and sounds from the surrounding city.   The GHI team did not call the Palazzo haunted but maybe this was just another case of the ghosts not coming out on cue.

“Ghost Hunters” is back on August 19th for a whole new season.
