More To Love

by Lindsay Strouse

After last week’s premiere episode of More To Love, Luke is left with 15 women, all eager to prove why they deserve his love.  Tonight kicks off in the kitchen, where it becomes apparent that Christina is not the favorite girl in the house. After bickering over breakfast, the girls get details on their first date with Luke…for some, their first date ever.

Surprise, surprise, Luke isn’t going on fifteen dates. He’s elected Anna and Malissa as team captains to decide which girls are going to be in each group for two separate group dates. Wait a second, fifteen doesn’t split into two even groups. Looks like it pays to be the odd one out, because Christina ends up with a one-on-one date with Luke.

Team Malissa is up first with instructions on how to “dress to impress.” The seven girls meet Luke at dusk for a beautiful yacht trip into the night. Romantic for everyone, right? Not quite. Before the second glass of champagne is even poured, Heather runs off to get reacquainted with her lunch. Talk about a good first date. While Heather takes time off for some R&R, Malissa wastes no time cozying up with the man of the hour. They share a passionate kiss, which boosts up her confidence a little too much if you ask me.

As the night goes on, the girls begin to get annoyed by Captain Malissa’s “take charge” attitude on the boat. Luke takes this opportunity to sneak down below the deck to check on seasick Heather. After waking her from a peaceful slumber, Luke and Heather share a heart-to-heart.

Following date number one comes Christina’s turn. After getting dolled up in a sequin strapless dress, Christina meets Luke outside the house for their romantic getaway. This isn’t any old romantic getaway. Luke springs for a private jet to take the couple for a night in Vegas. Christina uses every opportunity available to make sure Luke’s eyes (and lips) stay locked on her the whole time. At the conclusion at the date, Luke discloses to the viewers that while he is attracted to her “bangin’ body,” he doesn’t know if they will be able to connect on a deeper level.

Time for date number three (go Team Anna!). When the girls receive word about what their date will entail, they are less than thrilled. Luke planned a day by the pool for himself and the remaining seven ladies, which of course includes the dreaded bathing. I don’t know about you, but I think just about every girl would be self-conscious strutting her stuff in a bathing suit on a first date.

Although all girls are a little nervous, Melissa breaks down. Being one of the larger girls, she is terrified of exposing herself to the man all the women are trying to impress. Of course our teddy bear makes it all better by taking her aside first. After their alone time, Melissa becomes more open and confident with herself and her body.

Back at the house, Kristian and Mandy develop a plan to let Luke know their thoughts are always with him. They both leave love letters in the house for him as an act of affection (not to mention creepiness).

When all the dates are over, Luke arranges for a mixer for the women to relax before elimination time. Bonnie lets Luke see that you really can’t judge a book by its cover when she gives him insight into who she really is. Who knew that behind all those piercings and tattoos was loving 1950s housewife? Kristian continues to rave about her feelings toward Luke to the girls while showering him with compliments. I’m all for putting emotion out on the table, but this girl has got it bad. It does help secure a friendship with Luke, but he isn’t sure if there is anything more.

Lauren brings Luke aside with her own motives in mind. Instead of talking about herself and her interests, she takes another route. Why talk about herself when there are fourteen other girls to talk about? If you look up catty in the dictionary, Lauren’s picture is probably right next to it. She tells all the girls’ secrets and flaws, including Arriane’s decision to not have kids (sorry, Luke).

Once elimination starts and the girls put their rings back in the bowl, Luke leaves the room with a lot to think about. When he returns, only twelve rings are left to be redistributed. Mandy is called first, followed by Anna, Amanda, Malissa A, Christina, Bonnie, Heather, Lauren, Danielle, Tali, Melissa and Kristian. It looks like Lauren’s cattyness about some girls hit a nerve with Luke, because Arriane, Vanessa and Magali were left standing with a ring.
