Oh boy! Here we go again! The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 2 premiered tonight. NeNe, Lisa, Kim and Sheree are back, and joining them is all new cast mate Kandi Burress. Kandi is a Georgia native who was in the girl band Xscape and went on to write songs for TLC, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and NSync. Also returning is NeNe’s close friend Dwight, who is a warming, delightful addition to the ladies of Hotlanta.   NeNe and her family have just moved into Lisa’s neighborhood and Dwight it helping her redecorate her new home. 

Kim visits her long term psychic Rose, who tells her that she is going to start her own business soon and also have a son. Kim, who has recently left her on again/off again relationship with her mystery (some say “married”) man “Big Papa”. Rumors abound on who “Big Papa” is, and perhaps we will see him in the 2nd season.  If the gossip mills are true, he is a wealthy commercial real estate developer who is still married, so it wouldn’t seem likely. I guess we will see! 

Sheree has moved into her new home, which is all hers, after the house she shared with her husband is foreclosed upon. Sheree shares that she is trying to keep a strong front for her children, who do not receive child support or much interaction from their father. Sheree did not know about her home going into foreclosure until she received thirty days notice. Once in her new place, Sheree decides she is going to hire a party planner and throw herself a big “Independence Day” celebration in commemoration of her move.

Meanwhile, Ed is pressuring Lisa to have another baby, but she is a little concerned because of her age (38). Kandi comes over to visit in order to talk Lisa into participating in the Pocketbook Monologues, and Lisa begrudgingly agrees to do it, since it is for a good cause. Kandi shows Lisa her huge (!) engagement ring from fiancé, A.J. She shares that her mother is upset by the engagement, as A.J. is already the father of six children!  She also lets Lisa know that she has heard of Kim through their mutual friend, and Season One guest, Dallas Austin. 

Niecy Nash (of Clean House and Reno 911 fame, love her!) throws a birthday party and there are awkward moments when Kim arrives at the same time as Lisa and NeNe, who have not spoken with Kim since last seasons reunion show. Kim leaves just as Sheree is pulling in, and Sheree, NeNe and Lisa have a chance to hash out the rumors that are flying, apparently created by Kim. Rumors such as Lisa’s involvement in drugs and NeNe’s mild-tempered husband Greg being “broke”. Later, NeNe and Sheree schedule a play date for their kids, and have a chance to hash out their old problems and decide to forgive and forget. 

The premier ends with some fun drama when Sheree is on the phone with her poor party planner Anthony, who has had it with her. He hangs up on her, so Sheree decides to go to his office and find out just exactly what is going on with the plans. Anthony asks her to treat him professionally and all hell breaks loose when she calls him out on over promising and not delivering. You have to laugh as Anthony completely loses his cool while yelling at Sheree: “I eat b’s like you!” “Your mama is a b!” (Trying to keep it as G-Rated as possible here). Sheree gets in his face, and he is escorted out of the conference room by colleagues….I wonder how the party is going to turn out???
