Allison Grodner Executive Producer for CBS’s Big Brother 11

Recently we had the opportunity to speak with Allison Grodner, who is the executive producer for CBS’s Big Brother 11. She spoke about the upcoming season and what types of contestants she looks for.

Q. RealityWanted.com: So tell us about this years cast and how they are different from past ones?

A. Allison Grodner, Executive Producer Big Brother 11: Every season is so different, this season the cast has some amazing stories. The diversity amongst the group ranging from Kevin, a Jehovah witness and gay to Jordan, a waitress who has never watched Big Brother is going to bring about some interesting dynamics. I love mixing the groups on the show, there are people that are diehard Big Brother fans and newbies that have never even watched the show.

Q. RealityWanted.com: What should we expect to see this season?

A. Allison Grodner, Executive Producer Big Brother 11: There will be some familiar grouping of people in clicks. The house will be divided into the Popular, Athletic, Brainiacs and Offbeat groups, very similar to what we all had in high school. Though it is an individual game, we want to see how they relate in these clicks. Expect the unexpected.

Q. RealityWanted.com: Are there any changes in the house this season?

A. Allison Grodner, Executive Producer Big Brother 11: Yes, the house design has gone Eco-friendly and is now environmentally friendly. Elements of the house are recycled, there is a vegetable garden and recycling will be a part of the contestants daily life.

Q. RealityWanted.com:
Will there be some twists thrown in this year?

A. Allison Grodner, Executive Producer Big Brother 11: It is an intense environment with cameras and 24/7 scrutiny, so there will be a lot of twists that will throw everyone off.

Q. RealityWanted.com: When applicants apply and don’t make it on the show, are they completely out? Should they try for the next season?

A. Allison Grodner, Executive Producer Big Brother 11:
Every season we try to put together a dynamic and diverse group of people. If you don’t make it on one season, you might not fit what we are looking that season, but you should definitely apply for future ones if you really want to be on the show. You never know.

Q. RealityWanted.com: What types of contestants are you looking for?

A. Allison Grodner, Executive Producer Big Brother 11: We want people that pop. We aren’t looking for you to act like someone you are not, just be yourself and tell us who you are and why you would be good for the show.

Q. RealityWanted.com: For people that aren’t that familiar with Big Brother, can you give us an overview?

A. Allison Grodner, Executive Producer Big Brother 11: It’s the best reality soap opera that airs 3 times a week on CBS and also has 24/7 live feeds on the internet. We basically take complete strangers and lock them in a house and they fight for power and end up evicting someone weekly. It is high school times a 1000. It’s very voyeuristic and hard to turn away and with a grand prize of $500,000 anything can happen.

Q. RealityWanted.com:
So what’s next for Allison Grodner?

A. Allison Grodner, Executive Producer Big Brother 11: I currently have a show on TV Land “She’s Got The Look” that is currently airing (Thursday’s at 10pm). Also I have a series for Style Network that will be premiering in the fall, and quite a few things in the works for next winter and spring.
