Dancing With The Stars

You know, I really hate it when I'm getting ready to blog a show like this, and I log onto my computer and the first thing that hits me on my Yahoo page is the "winner" of the competition.  There should be some law against publishing the results before the west coast has even viewed the episode!  It takes all the wind out of my sails as a blogger and makes me grumpy as all hell.

Lady Ga-Ga was the only musical performer tonight.  She sure is strange but I like her music.

We were subjected to lots and lots of repeat performances we’ve already seen before. It is just extra fluff that isn’t needed. Why the network can’t be satisfied with a one-hour finale I do not know.  Instead they painfully make us watch re-runs of performers we voted off because we didn’t want to watch them anymore.  Go figure.

The pro-dancer chosen for next season was Anna.  We watched her and Alec dance again.  Yup…another repeat performance.

The most entertaining part of the show was one of last year's star competitors Jeffrey Ross, although I will admit I had never heard of him until he was on DWTS last year.  His roast was pretty funny.  Insulting (as it should be I guess) but very funny.

The three finalists danced again.  Shawn & Mark danced the Cha-Cha, Melissa & Tony danced the Samba, and Gilles & Cheryl danced the Argentine Tango.  All three couples were awarded a perfect score (30) from the judges (big surprise).  Combined judges scores left Melissa in the bottom with an 86 and tied Gilles and Shawn with an 88.  So that means the results were based on the viewer votes.

I'll be honest with you (as I always am).  Shawn deserved to win just as much as Mellisa and Gilles, but I am having a hard time believing she won the viewer (aka popularity vote) over Gilles.  But isn't that always the way these reality shows turn out?  Tonight is the season finale of American Idol and although Adam Lambert has been at the forefront of the competition since day one, Kris Allen will probably be the winner.  99.9% of the time the "winner" is the one we least expect so it always leaves me wondering if the results are "skewed" by the producers of each of these shows because it has now become "predictable" that the "non-predictable" will occur!

In any event, CONGRATULATIONS to Shawn & Mark on a job well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
