American Idol

You may have thought that you could have predicted how this season of American Idol would turn out but after last night’s episode, I bet you’re just as clueless as I am!  Things got started with a montage of Tuesday night’s performances and the Ford commercial, blah blah blah.  The Top 5 performed their rendition of “It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)”.  Thankfully, they decided to actually sing live instead of lip sync.

The contestants are brought to the center of the stage.  Matt is sent to the right, Danny to the left, Allison to the left, Kris to the right, which leaves Adam standing in the middle.  Now, going all the way back to the season with Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice, there has been an episode where Seacrest divides the contestants up and asks the remaining one to decide which group he or she belongs in.  It’s a jerk move and nobody ever answers the questions… until now.  Adam looks back and forth and wanders over to Allison and Danny.  “Based on last night?  This group,” he says.

False, Adam.  Not only were you in the wrong group, you were in the bottom three.  Scandalous!

Here’s the thing about Adam.  He’s not everybody’s cup of tea to begin with.  You can’t deny his extraordinary singing talent but he’s a bit strange on stage and not everybody is going to fall on the floor and die every time he opens his mouth.  On top of that, he’s not the world’s most humble guy either.  Though I like him and think he should get a recording contract, I couldn’t help but smile when he was moved to the bottom three… and I wasn’t the only one.  Kris Allen’s face was pretty priceless, especially considering the rumors that the two boys are feuding off the set!

After a bunch of performances from Natalie Cole (who looked amazing), Jamie Foxx (whose song I hate to admit is catchy), and Taylor Hicks (who I swear to God looks 65), it was time to find out who was being sent back to safety.  Not Adam, people.  NOT ADAM.  Kris was sent over to safety along with Allison and Danny.

Alright so Matt ended up going home, just like I figured.  I didn’t think Adam would leave 5th but maybe it was a wake-up call that he doesn’t have this thing in the bag.  American Idol just got a whole lot more interesting…

Be sure to watch American Idol when the Top 4 hit the stage for your votes, Tuesday night at 8pm ET on FOX.
