 Make Me A Supermodel 2

By Kristal Bailey

This week on Make Me a Supermodel, Amanda has to cope without Gabe, and she’s already struggling. Jordan is uncaring, as usual. The email clue stumps Salome, who’s never heard of Andy Warhol and Yves Saint Laurent, some major cultural icons. I guess it’s just her Mennonite background keeping her down again in the modeling world. This week’s photo shoot focuses on Mod fashion, photographed by Roxanne Loran. The challenge is to convincingly capture the 60s nightlife scene, with the help of black & white photography.

This week, they’re picking their partner to work in pairs. Amanda ends up being the last picked, signifying how the house feels about her. Tyson reveals that this week is a double elimination! This definitely makes everyone feel the pressure. In wardrobe, Amanda needs a bit more help in the chest area, bringing up the topic of what size guys like, and apparently “large is scary”. Jordan and Jonathan proved a great duo. Salome had trouble at first because she didn’t know what Mod was, but Mountaha took the time to explain it and I think they had some good photos after all. Brandhurst had trouble because Sandhurst does not feel comfortable with a big smile. Kerryn has a vested interest in keeping Colin around. But while they have great chemistry off-camera, it comes across awkward in the shoot. Kerryn even had to be sent back to hair and make-up, since it wasn’t working. These two could be the ones going home this week. Laury and Amanda had the most awkward photo shoot of them all, given their animosity towards each other.

Back at the house, Brendan and Amanda bond over the fact that she’s a single mother and he was raised by one. It looks like Amanda may have found a new confidant in the house. They get the call and Salome won the challenge, which shocked everyone, myself included. She’s going on a go-see to Rory Tahari, and bringing Mountaha along for the ride. The designers can’t pronounce her name, and don’t like her walk, and Mountaha is too edgy for them - so neither of them book it. Meanwhile, Jordan is off to the job she booked on her go-see. She did a showroom job, where she’s pretty much a “live hanger”. They loved her look and demeanor, so she could be called back again.

The catwalk challenge this week is a style war. Roman & MJ come in this week to help them out and explain what to do. They took a pair of leather pants and in a minute turned it into a cropped leather jacket. Pretty impressive. They will be walking against their photo partner – which could be trouble for Brendan, since Sandhurst always rocks the runway. They have 4 minutes to create an original couture outfit, with a designer and random scraps of clothing and material. Salome feels she has an advantage because of her Mennonite background, for once, since they always made their own clothes. Sandhurst walks the weirdest walk I’ve seen. Amanda’s brown paper dress actually looks like a real dress, making it a bit easier for her. Colin and Kerryn walk off and Kerryn is not going to let her feelings get in the way of victory. Jordan and Jonathon have a fun catwalk, working off each other really well.

The judges believe that Amanda needs more presence; Laury needs to bring out her inner bitch and show more confidence. They loved Sandhurst’s playful walk. Colin and Kerryn get knocked for their photo. And while Kerryn stood up for the photo, Colin agreed about the lack of chemistry, which nearly brought her to tears. Salome, Sandhurst, and Jordan are at the top of their game, with Salome winning immunity. Kerryn and Laury are going home. I’m surprised about Kerryn; she was so strong and is still the only person to have won immunity twice. Before Laury leaves, she releases her inner bitch on Salome.

Next week on Make Me a Supermodel, they’re going out west and getting a personal trainer.
