This week's dances consisted of the Tango, the Waltz, the Rumba, the Samba, and the Cha-Cha-Cha.  There are only seven couples left in the competition and this week the pros and the stars were required to learn a group dance in addition to their individual dances.   I just LOVED the 60's group dance, especially since I was (and still am) a flower child from that era.  The choreography was brilliant and it was the best group dance I've ever seen on this show with regard to synergy and synchronicity.  The stars that stood out (for me) were Melissa, Lil' Kim and Shawn.

 

Here are my thoughts on this  week's individual performances:

 

Melissa  & Tony danced the Argentine Tango.  Perfection - perfection - perfection!!!!   Melissa was unbelievable!  I'm a woman and I needed a drink too Bruno!   A perfect 10 in MY book (and there were NO flubs Len)!  Judges Combined Score = 29

 

Lawrence & Edyta danced the Waltz.  It was definitely one of Lawrence's better dances, but there is just no way he can compete with the likes of Melissa, Shawn, and Gilles.  I loved Edyta's dress as well, but I can't give him more than an 8 for a score.  Judges Combined Score = 21

 

Lil' Kim & Derek danced the Rumba.  First of all, I hated the outfit (it was not flattering at all).  For me the danc was boring and I couldn't wait for it to be over.  I'll give it an 8 tops.  Judges Combined ScoreShawn & Mark  = 26

 

Chuck & Julianne danced the Samba.  I was really impressed and agreed with Len - it was Chuck's best dance yet.  This was the first time my eyes were on HIM and not Julianne throughout the dance.   He looked fantastic in that red as well!  I am upping the judges and have to give him a 10!  Judges Combined Score = 27

 

Ty & Chelsie danced the Waltz.  It was very nice but the choreography wasn't very exciting.  I think Ty did the best he could with what he had so I'll give him a 9.  Judges Combined Score = 24

 

Shawn & Mark danced the Cha-Cha-Cha.   I loved the choreography and I thought Shawn rocked it!  I definitely forgot her age tonight.  I have to give her a well-deserved 10!   Judges Combined Score = 28

 

Gilles & Cheryl danced the Viennese Waltz. Gilles is such a good student.  He always gives 200% and it shows on performance night.  This was a perfect example of how a waltz does NOT have to bore us!  A perfect 10 in my book (and yes still sexy)!  Judges Combined Score = 27

 

At the top of the leader board (again) is Melissa & Tony and Shawn & Mark.   At risk for tomorrow night's elimination is Lawrence & Edyta and Ty & Chelsie.
