Americas Next Top Model 12

by Danae Young

On this week’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, only nine girls remain. Drama begins in the house after Celia ratted out Tahlia in panel. She had no right to go up to Tyra and say those things. It should be Tahlia telling Tyra that she doesn’t think the competition is for her, not Celia. Now the girls have split into two groups: the girls who are on Tahlia’s side and the girls who are on Celia’s side. Aminat even goes as far as getting into Natalie’s face and calling her stupid repeatedly.

With the drama aside the next day, the girls are introduced to Beth Stern. Beth teaches the girls about facial expressions and how important they are as a model. The girls get put to the test when they must put their face through two of the cut-outs of their choice. The cut-outs are photographs of Tyra with the face cut-out and the girls must match their face to Tyra’s body language in the photograph. Natalie wins the challenge by a landslide and gets 50% more frames in the photo shoot.

Back at the house, Tahlia decides to solve the situation with Celia in a very mature and calm manner. Things seem to be better in the house but Celia is convinced that she is going home at elimination.

The following day, at the photo shoot, the girls must use what they learned about facial expressions. The girls are each assigned a color which is artistically splashed on their face for the headshots. Each girl had her own way of getting into character with their color. Allison was hot pink so she went for being girly. Aminat was green so she wanted her photo to have an earthy feel. Sandra was white and chose the angelic road but probably should have gone for the ice queen look instead. Tahlia was violet and went with seeing the photographer as her boyfriend which sounds crazy but actually seemed to work pretty well.

At elimination Allison was told by the photographer, who was the guest judge, that she had no range at the shoot. She has the same look week after week. Aminat nailed the shot with a very modern take on the color green. Tahlia was told the job of a model is to look better in her pictures than in person, and that is exactly what she did this week. She was also confronted about how she felt about Celia and what she said in last week’s panel. The judges said that it was her job to tell them if she wanted to leave or not and found Celia’s speech to be childish. Teyona’s color yellow helped her portray optimism and hope in her photo. Fo put everyone to shame with her photo filled with fire, desire, lust, and heat! London had the same face in her photo as last week but it was good enough to get her to episode 6. Natalie’s face has no depth and needs to learn how to make the bones show in her face. Celia’s photo was practical just like her color, gray. Sandra’s photo wasn’t powerful enough leading to her elimination. Finally no more Sandra!

Will Celia become the new drama starter? Or perhaps Aminat?  Find out on next week’s episode of America’s Next Top Model.
