Aubrey Cheney The Biggest Loser Couples

by David McAlpine and Gina Scarpa

This week, on The Biggest Loser: Couples, Aubrey would have escaped elimination had it not been for the fact that Tara won immunity.  After the weigh-in, Filipe and Aubrey were the two contestants who lost the lowest percentage of weight loss.  The contestants decided that it was Aubrey's turn to go and today, she spoke to RealityWanted in an exclusive interviews about her struggles both on and off the show as well as what she learned from being part of The Biggest Loser.

Q. David, RealityWanted: Mandi told us it was your idea to try out for The Biggest Loser:
Couples.  What made you want to apply?
A. Aubrey: My husband and I have watched the Biggest Loser since the first season. During that time I had three kids and gained over 100lbs. I saw prior contestants "where are they now" and I realized they were moving forward and I was moving backward. I wanted to do something about my weight before it started impacting my self-esteem in a negative manner.

Q. David, RealityWanted: How was it being sent home for 30 days shortly after getting to the ranch? What went through your head?
A. Aubrey: Quite honestly, After that first week on the ranch and the extreme muscle soreness, I welcomed the fact that I was going home! I was like "I'll go do this on my own and it won't be as painful!" Well come to find out the soreness and the fatigue was the first obstacle I had to overcome in order to continue being successful. I learned that being in your comfort zone isn't going to help you!

Q. David, RealityWanted: When Mandi decided to sacrifice herself so that you could stay in the game, how did you feel?
A. Aubrey: SCARED! Being in a place where everyone is literally against you and knowing that I would have to face that alone was terrifying. Not to mention you have to face a lot of inner conflict that needs to be resolved...that's always easier to do when there is someone with you that you know and trust even if you don't utilize them.

Q. David, RealityWanted: Why did you pick Bob as your final trainer?  Looking back on it, are you satisfied with that decision?
A. Aubrey: I am more than satisfied with my decision to have Bob as a trainer! Bob made me feel so powerful. He reminded me that I am here for me and every accomplishment or milestone I came across he always made sure that I reflected on what it took to get there and he made sure I gave myself credit for doing the work. It's easier to keep moving forward like that. I found out that if people do things for you it's harder to really appreciate them. When I know that my blood sweat and tears goes into something I'm going to be sure to maintain or continue to improve on those things.

Q. David, RealityWanted: Were you surprised that you got so much weight during the weight distribution twist?
A. Aubrey: I was actually surprised that I didn't get more weight! Considering I went first and split my weight evenly between Helen and Tara who both went after me.

Q. David, RealityWanted: What was the biggest challenge you faced on The Biggest Loser? What was the biggest lesson you learned?
A. Aubrey: The biggest challenge I had was learning to let go of what was going on at home. That consumed so many thoughts honestly. Everyday it was a struggle to just focus on what I was doing...I always had thoughts of even the smallest things at home. "Did Justin (my husband) remember to have Aspyn read today. I hope Logan knows I think about him everyday. I hope the babies don't do anything new today..etc."  The biggest lesson I learned was how much effort is required to have an effective work out. I used to go to the gym and walk on the treadmill for twenty minutes and when my forehead got clammy I thought "boy I had a good work out" NOT EVEN!! I realized that I have to push the envelope as far as I can make myself workout in such a manner that is NOT comfortable in order for anything to take place inside my body.

Q. David, RealityWanted: We all saw your struggle after you got home. What did you do to get out of your rough spot and how have you been working toward your goal?
A. Aubrey: I made a schedule. I made list of the things I do everyday and what time I do them. Then I looked back at the "dullest" part of my day. For instance from eleven to one the littlest kids would be napping and that's when I would do laundry. So I took laundry and moved it down to four p.m. during the time I help with homework or start with dinner and took those two hours to get a work out in.
