Ghost Hunters

Star Island - Portsmouth, New Hampshire
A former fishing village as far back as revolutionary times, now serves as a summer Resort for those looking for a change of pace.   Closed during the winter, one can not but think of the Overlook Hotel and Resort in the movie “The Shining.” A ghostly doctor involved in a failed suicide pact has been seen roaming the halls of his island house. People being pushed down stairs, a ghost boy, and images in mirrors are just a few of the reported stories from workers and visitors.

Kris Williams, who finally seems to have dropped her unsightly glasses she wears for night investigations, has really taken a step forward in her debunking. She pointed out the various reasons people feel that they are being pushed down stairs ranging from the un-even structure of a staircase to simply letting the “ghost stories” take over their mind.  Battery drain was rampant, which usually means ghosts are drawing the energy from the devices to try and show themselves.  The team did grab a few good pieces of evidence, a EVP produced a ghost, not too happy with the comments Jason Hawes made about a picture of a baby he called “Creepy.” A few doors seemed to have minds of their own, opening and closing with a ferocious swing.  Footsteps, heard by the curator, were very audible in the audio recordings.  The Ghost Hunters didn’t come right out and call the island and it’s surroundings haunted but they certainly left with many unanswered questions.

Kimball Castle – Gilford, New Hampshire

Not bad for an American castle, carrying many of the same characteristics you would expect from one of the many castles the GHI team have investigated.  Full body apparitions, possibly that of the former Mr. Benjamin Kimball himself, opening and closing doors, and horse noises in the stable would be normal if there were any horses on the property.

Although the castle rated high on the creepy scale, there were not many eye opening events during the investigation, unless encountering a rodent on a thermal imager grabs your attention.  The team couldn’t call the castle haunted but seemed to feel that the place desired another investigation in the future.  They battled horrible weather and boring ghosts and the viewers had to wonder if we will ever be able to compete with the mostly haunted international castles.

Extra Notes:

The first two shows of season 5 have been somewhat uneventful. Hopefully the Ghost Hunters are not saving the best for last or there may be no viewers to see the grand finale.  A surprise visit from former Ghost Hunter, Brian Harnois, could add some entertainment.
