Survivor: Tocantins - Episode 5 Recap

Tonight, on Survivor: Tocantins, Taj and Stephen go searching for the idol at the Jalapao camp and are successful.  Taj is convinced that her alliance (consisting of Stephen, Sierra, and Brendan) and the idol will carry her far in the game… that is, if nobody else finds out!  At Timbira, Sierra chastises Brendan for not informing her that she was actually in the alliance.  She didn’t find out until she went to Exile with Taj.

In tonight’s reward challenge, a tribe member sits on a platform while another tribe member pulls a rope that will spin them and make them dizzy.  The tribe member must then cross a balance beam and if they fall off, they must start again.  The first tribe to three points will win a trip to the Charmin Café filled with coffee and… plenty of toilet paper, of course.  Jalapao easily scores 3 points, winning the challenge, and immediately sends Brendan to Exile.  He picks Stephen to go with him and Tyson is immediately suspicious of that move.

As an added surprise for Jalapao, they received letters from home at the Charmin Café.  That’ll be good reading material when they’re in the banneiro after drinking all that coffee!  At Timbira, Tyson tells the other tribe members that he thinks that Brendan is building relationships with the Jalapao tribe.  Debra warns him not to tell Sierra - not that any of them have any clue that she’s in on it, too.

At the immunity challenge, two members of each tribe will alternate launching balls out onto the course.  The remaining tribe members will catch a ball, regardless of the color.  The first tribe to catch 5 wins immunity.  JT is an absolute superstar , giving Jalapao an early lead.  Refusing to be shown up, Brendan makes a few great catches of his own and the two tribes are tied at 2.  JT makes a hard catch to give his team a third point but loses a tooth in the process.  Unfortunately for his tribe, Timbira makes a run for it and ends up winning the challenge.

Knowing that she might be a target, Taj starts turning the tribe against Spencer, pointing out that he hardly performed in the challenge.  However, the way she goes about it is not her finest moment, as she comes out guns a-blazin' in an attempt to get people to see things her way.  Spencer heads right to Joe and JT, insisting that he did put out an effort in the challenge and makes a plea for them to keep him in the game.

At tribal, Spencer admits that he wasn't happy with his performance and feels he let his tribe down.  Taj says that everyone is feeling the effects of losing and holds out hope that they'll be able to go into the merge even with Timbira if they can pull off a win.  Joe tells Jeff that she doesn't like the way Taj approached him after the challenge and she worries it will end up costing her the game.  Clearly, tonight's tribal council is coming down to Taj or Spencer and here are the votes: Spencer.  Taj.  Spencer.  Spencer.  Spencer.  That's enough and Spencer is voted out of the game.

Be sure to check back to RealityWanted tomorrow to read Spencer's exclusive interview!
