Hello, Amazing Race fans. This is an episode full of action. We start as always with the pit stop release times:

Mel/Michael 1049pm
Amanda/Kris 1053pm
Kisha/Jennifer 1055pm
Margie/Luke 1106pm
Mark/Michael 1107pm
Christie/Jody 1108pm
Jaime/Cara 1125pm
Tammy/Victor 130am

Note that Tammy/Victor are 100 minutes behind the leader and 2 hours behind the next closest team.

The clue sends teams to Krasnojarsk, Siberia, Russia and the place on the back of the 10-Ruble note. Teams get to the airport some reserving flights in the car. Sometimes that practice is good and sometimes it is bad. In this case Mel/Michael got a booking that did not get them to Krasnojarsk with the first wave. Teams book in succession and in the end the only winners are Mark/Michael, Kisha/Jennifer and Christie/Jody who either get to Moscow first or had higher priority reservations. There are 4 routes to Moscow used by 8 teams. In addition, there are 3 different airports in Moscow and 2 of them have flights to Krasnojarsk on the necessary date. Teams fly to Frankfurt, Munich, Sofia and Istanbul. From there they are all scheduled to Moscow-Sheremetyevo airport to be on Aeroflot flight 779 leaving at 855pm and arriving Krasnojarsk at 540am before sunup the next morning. However, the 5 less fortunate teams for reasons not identified in the telecast do not make that flight. That means they have to travel across Moscow to Domodedovo airport to get the 1020pm flight which arrives 645am.

So, 3 teams get to Krasnojarsk more than an hour (the show says 2 hours but that is unlikely) ahead. They find out from taxi drivers that the back of the 10 ruble note is the Hydroelectric Dam across the Yenisei River (a major Siberian river). It does not open until 830am to allow a little bunching. The clue there sends teams to the Church of Innokenty. There they find a DETOUR Stack or Construct. In Stack teams have to match the style of a huge woodpile almost 6 feet high and maybe 12 feet wide. Logs that are quartered or smaller are set into place carefully so that the pile is stable. This is much more said than done, as this is a difficult DETOUR and several piles tumble done. Once a team has lost its pile, almost all elected to switch to the Construct DETOUR. Construct means build from pieces and with provided tools one of the fancy shutters common on Krasnojarsk houses, then have to locate a house with a REPAIRS NEEDED sign. Mark/Michael lose their pile and switch to Construct but they walk all over town (well maybe not as Krasnoyarsk is a city of 900,000 people and has to have large land area) without finding it. Only later when the second wave of teams has arrived are they able to do so. Kisha/Jen and Christy/Jody complete their piles and go forward to the ROADBLOCK.

The ROADBLOCK "Who's ready to speed read?" is a rodelbahn track at the Bobrovy Log Park, like a luge going down a fixed track at 55 mph. The selected individual has to navigate the 3.5 track in 4 minutes 0 seconds or less. They must note as they descend each of 7 letters displayed on the side of the track. They must show what the 7 letters are and then they receive square letters of those 7 and must organize them into a name of a Russian author. The answer is Chekhov and some individuals get his immediately. Luke when he arrives needs 5 tries to get it. However, first up is Kisha who meets the limit at 355 but got only 6 letters. She has to go again after Jody makes it down in 4:00 and spells Chekhov. Both teams go on to the pit stop at the Musical Comedy Theatre. Christy/Jody are in first place and Kisha/Jennifer in second.

The second flight has landed while this was happening and they confront the same tasks. Margie/Luke do well on Stack and find a new Blind U-Turn available to them. This is meant for the sneaky person that Luke now appears to be. He would never expose himself in the open, but the producers have found a way for the chaos of the U-Turn to be used early in a season rather than only in late episodes by taking the stigma out of it. They do not need to help themselves but Luke wants to help Jaime/Cara stay in the race. He U-Turns Amanda/Kris to facilitate that. Then he has to solve the Chekhov name puzzle, which looks like he will be unable to do. Margie can't help but even if she could as she does not know the answer. On his 5th try Luke gets it. Tammy/Victor did STACK quickly and Victor is fastest of all in getting Chekhov. He and Tammy are well-educated professional and the word Chekhov does tend to favor the well-educated professional. Mark/Michael are joined by Mel/Mike and Amanda/Kris on the shutters. They all finish about the same time and then go looking for the elusive REPAIRS NEEDED house. All finish at closed the same time. They all go through the Blind U-Turn area and there Amanda/Kris find out that they have to go back to STACK which they had abandoned when they lost their pile. They redo it reasonably quickly but just going back takes time and they are far behind when they finish. All the other teams have made finished ahead of them, so Amanda and Kris are eliminated. The finish order is:

1.Christie/Jody
2.Kisha/Jennifer
3.Tammy/Victor
4.Margie/Luke
5.Jamie/Cara
6.Mel/Michael
7.Mark/Michael
8.Amanda/Kris
