Survivor: Tocantins - Episode 4 Recap

Survivor Tocantins

On tonight’s episode of Survivor: Tocantins, Coach was still nursing his ego after Erinn refused to say that he was the leader of their Timbira tribe.  He called her the cancer of the tribe, a phrase he seems to enjoy throwing around every time somebody doesn’t follow his orders.  I’m not really sure why a tribe needs a leader at all.  Different people should be expected to step up at different times, whether they are the ones organizing what needs to be done around camp or stepping up in a challenge that gives them the opportunity to show off their strengths.

Over at Jalapao, Taj asked Stephen if he would like to be part of the biggest upset in Survivor history.  Duh, of course he does.  The super secret 4 person cross tribal alliance has begun (say that three times fast)!  Brendan, unfortunately, does not get the chance to bring Sierra into the loop at Timbira, which is a problem since she is the 4th member.  Before he can tell her, the tribes head out for their reward challenge.  Three members of each tribe will have a pole across their shoulders and weight will be added each round.  Two members of the opposing tribe will decide where the weight is distributed.  The winning tribe will get to head over the losing tribe’s camp and steal 2 items.

Jalapao starts piling the weight on Brendan while Timbira gives the weight to Joe.  Brendan drops out at 200 pounds, leaving Tyson and Debra to win it for their tribe.   JT holds strong for Jalapao, at 220 pounds, tying a Survivor record with Rupert of Pearl Islands.  Tyson bails at 140 pounds and JT is out seconds later.  Joe drops at 140 and the challenge is left up to the women: Taj and Debra.  Debra can no longer hold her weight and drops, meaning that Jalapao wins again!  They send Sierra to Exile Island, who decides Taj will be heading with her.  All part of the master plan…

Soon after the challenge, JT and Joe show up at Timbira and decide to steal a little food as well as a can that holds water.  At Exile, Taj was left to explain the alliance to Sierra, who was completely on board.  The two return, as allies, just in time for tonight's immunity challenge.  One tribe member must race to retrieve a puzzle piece and bring it back and then another member does the same until all pieces are back with the tribe.  The pieces will reveal a secret message and the tribe to figure it out first will win.  Timbira gets their pieces back first and is able to figure out their puzzle first.  Timbira enjoys a much needed win after a losing streak.

After the challenge, several Jalapao members start gunning for Sydney.  Anybody but them, right?  Sydney, on the other hand, hopes that Sandy will be the one headed home.  At tribal, Sandy admits that her age works against her in some regard but she tries to use her personality and sense of humor to fit in.  Stephen outs Sydney and Joe as the two tribe members who flirt the most.  Sydney's good looks afford her a few more days in the game while Sandy is the one voted out tonight.

Check back tomorrow for Sandy's exclusive interview with RealityWanted!
