Ghost Hunters International

Karosta Prison – Liepaja, Latvia

You had to expect the GHI team would save the best for last and the Karosta Prison, a former Soviet military prison built in the late 1900’s, certainly fit the “creepy” bill.  This place made Alcatraz look like a 5 star hotel, which is amazing because it only went out of service in 1990. Brutal torture and death once filled the now damp and dark halls and cells and it shouldn’t be a surprise that the souls of the of the former inmates now haunt the prison.

Cell doors creaking, footsteps, shadows, whispers, and audible warnings of “Get Out of Here” were common place during the investigation.  Many times the investigators felt as if someone had touched them, or tugged at their clothing.  At one point a woman’s voice was heard, which might have very well been the voice of  “The White Lady.”  “The White Lady” is said to be a ghost of a woman who hung herself after finding out during her visit that her fiancé had been executed. Her restless soul now wonders the hallowed hallways, some say she's still looking for her future husband;

The team ended the investigation and felt that with all the personal experiences they had, there must be some good evidence to show their client.  Only a few EVP’s showed up as evidence, and although impressive, other locations had more stunning evidence.  The GHI team had no problem calling the Karosta Prison haunted but it was definitely based on their personal experiences, more than evidence.

Extra Notes:
Overall this season had some great moments and did at least provide ghostly entertainment for it’s viewers.  The GHI team gets the chance to travel to distant countries and investigate places the Ghost Hunters team would love to go to if it were not for their family obligations, and of course Steve, who still struggles with flying in airplanes.  If GHI is already in the process of taping another season, they must add some entertaining chemistry to the team.  Bringing in Dave Tango, Jason, or Grant from the Ghost Hunters team to join them for a case or two would add some color.  Last season Josh Gates, from the show “Destination Truth,” made an appearance and his wise cracks made for great fill during the down times of the investigation.  Angela Alderman is already bowing out from the team and you kind of had a feeling she wasn’t long term.  Angela didn’t really add any paranormal investigation experience to the show so I guess her only contribution was a little eye candy.

Thanks to everyone for their comments during this past GHI season and good luck with your own investigations.
