The Biggest Loser Couples Dane Patterson

This week, on The Biggest Loser: Couples, Dane may have pulled a big number on the scale, losing 13 pounds, but it wasn’t enough to help his black team win the weigh-in.  The black team deliberated whether they should send Dane or Ron home and clearly, the women wanted to eliminate the bigger threat so they sent Dane packing.  Before leaving, Dane was able to go down in Biggest Loser history as the contestant to lose 100 pounds in the shortest amount of time.  Today, he spoke to RealityWanted in an exclusive interview about his time on the ranch and life back at home.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you want to try out for The Biggest Loser this season and did you have any reservations about going on the show?
A. Dane: My family was my number one reason for trying out for the show. I would do anything for them including taking off my shirt for the entire world to see.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did you adjust to the major twist this season, that only one of you would compete for the first 30 days while the other went home to try to lose weight on their own?
A. Dane: Luckily Blaine and I didn't have to worry about the twist in the first episode. It would have been difficult being there without him then.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did it feel to break that Biggest Loser record, being the quickest person to lose 100 pounds?
A. Dane: 100 pounds lost was a goal of mine, but I didn't expect to do it so quickly. Walking away with that record made it a little easier to deal with the fact that I got eliminated so soon.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was the main thing that motivated you through the toughest workouts?
A. Dane: During the toughest moments on the ranch all I could think about was my wife. I wanted to make her so proud of me. I also wanted to give her a sexy husband once again.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: When the teams were split up or had to switch trainers, everyone was clearly upset. What was your reaction and what were your thoughts on the twist this week?
A. Dane: When the teams got switched up I know others had a hard time. I wasn't there because of my trainer. I was there for me and my family. I would have worked out with anyone as long as I was on the show. I didn't want to lose sight of my gratitude for just being there. Clearly the switch created the greatest disadvantage to me than anyone else, but I was just grateful of being there in the first place. The Blue team was clearly the weaker of the two teams even with me there.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What went on in that deliberation room on this week's episode? Why do you think Cathy and Kristin decided to vote you off when clearly you were the most capable of losing consistently large amounts of weight?
A. Dane: Essentially this is a game. I feel that Ron was able to convince the others not to vote him off even though he is the weaker team member. I know Kristin wants to win, I know Mike wants to win. With me there I was a threat to them winning the show. They had their shot and took it. I don't have any problem with that. I knew when I first arrived on the Ranch that that day would most likely come. When it's all said and done Cathy and Kristin are two of the most caring and loving people I've ever met. I cherish knowing them.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How difficult is it to maintain your weight once you leave the ranch and return home?
A. Dane: When I came home I quickly realized that I am the exact same guy as before I left. My tendencies and habits are still the same. I work hard everyday at fixing what is broken in my life and I hope and pray that when this is all said and done that I've learned enough to remain healthy for the rest of my life.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you and Blaine rely on each other at home to prepare yourselves for the upcoming live finale?
A. Dane: Blaine helps me at home more than I realized he would. He and I work out together almost everyday. We were just cousins before the show and we are now best friends.
