On last week's episode of The Real World: Brooklyn, Baya was given the opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a New York City club DJ.  She was also in for a surprise when her best friend in the house, Ryan, started to give off the vibe that he could have feelings for her.  No matter what the situation, though, the 21-year-old from Utah handles things from a rational perspective and rarely finds herself caught up in drama or negativity.  RealityWanted will be talking to cast members from The Real World: Brooklyn throughout the entire season and up first, we check in with Baya.  Read on to find out her thoughts on breaking into the entertainment industry, her relationship with Ryan, and her advice to those who are hoping to become a Real World cast member someday!

Q.  Gina, RealityWanted: How did you end up becoming a cast member on The Real World: Brooklyn?
A.  Baya: Ha, good question! I always tell people maybe it was the sparkle in my eye, because other than that I feel like your average, everyday 21-year-old girl. This season they really switched it up though and they cast people who were pursuing their dreams whether it was advocacy, being a VJ, a filmmaker, etc. For me personally I want to professionally dance and DJ.

Q.  Gina, RealityWanted: Had you been to NYC often before coming to film the show and how different is life there than back home in Utah?
A.  Baya: I had been to NYC once when I was young, but I had never spent any real time here. New York couldn't be more different than Utah. From the transportation to the food to the nightlife, they don't even compare.  This isn't to say one is better than the other, they are just completely different! For me, I fit in in New York, I have never felt that way about Utah.

Q.  Gina, RealityWanted: We've seen you on a dance audition so far and also, talking about spinning in clubs.  Which aspect of the entertainment industry would you like to pursue the most?
A.  Baya: Both of them, absolutely. Dance has always been a passion of mine, and DJ'ing is something I have always taken interest in, but never got a chance to pursue. It's funny because when I am up in the DJ booth, I jam out SO hard to all of the songs, so essentially I get to do both, ha!  One of my dreams is to be a lead dancer in a music video or to go on tour with an artist as a dancer. Who knows though, maybe I'll go on tour as a DJ with an artist too! Ha, I love them both so much it is hard to say which avenue I will end up taking... hopefully both will work out!

Q.  Gina, RealityWanted: What was your reaction to the email that Ryan sent you, saying that (in a different time or situation) he could see a relationship with you?
A.  Baya: Honestly, I didn't take it too seriously. We were great friends and he was pretty tipsy when he wrote that email. On my end, I never thought of him in that light so I was taken aback, but it didn't change anything as far as the dynamic of our friendship. I didn't tell anyone in the house either. It shows Devyn and I talking right after I get the email, but we weren't talking about that. It was never mentioned to anyone.. I kept that really private because I didn't want to make a big issue out of it.

Q.  Gina, RealityWanted: You always say that you and Ryan get along the best - what is it about him that makes the two of you so close?
A.  Baya: Ryan reminds me of all of the guys I grew up with in Salt Lake. The same sense of humor, etc... it was really easy for me to get along with him because I could read him really well, I felt like I had met people like him before. Plus we always had such a good time together... we were always laughing and being ridiculous and outrageous so our personalities mesh really well.

Q.  Gina, RealityWanted: What is your advice to people who want to become cast members on The Real World?
A.  Baya: It's hard to say because you never know what production is looking for.  If I had auditioned for season 20, in Hollywood, I probably wouldn't have made it because they were looking for a different type of person.  All I can say is if you have a story you want people to hear, go out and try to be a voice. Don't try to be someone you aren't, thinking that they are looking for a certain kind of person, because you never can tell.
