Last Night Of Competition On Dancing With The Stars
By: Mary Cavaliere
The pre- show started with each couple announcing their favorite ballroom and latin dance during the competition. Brooke & Derek chose their Quick-Step and their Pasadoble. Warren & Kym chose their Viennese Waltz and their Pasadoble as well. Lance & Lacey chose their Tango and their Mambo. Each of the couples spoke to the audience to tell them why they think they should win. I don’t know, I thought it was just a lot of filler. I don’t like redundancy in the workplace nor do I like it on television either.
They closed the pre-show by announcing that Craig & Samantha were the Junior Dancing With The Stars Champions. Good for them!!!
The final competition started with a Samba Smackdown where all three couples danced together, yet individually. The judges scored each couples performance and Brooke & Derek won with a 28 followed by Lance & Lacey with a 26 and finally Warren & Kym with a 25.
The real competition, however, was the freestyle performances. This is probably what most people will be basing their votes on tonight.
Brooke & Derek did their rendition of You’re The One That I Want from Grease. The judges said it was the best freestyle dance they’ve ever seen. It was good, I’ll agree with that. But the best one in seven seasons? Really? I didn’t see that. The judges gave them a perfect 30. That combined with their Samba score, Brooke & Derek ended with a total of 58 points.
Lance & Lacey did a Hip-Hop routine. It was definitely cute, but a disappointment for me. I didn’t think it was the wisest choice for the final competition and could have cost Lance the mirror-ball trophy which I was truly hoping he’d go home with tomorrow night. The judges gave them a 27. That combined with their Samba score, Lance & Lacey ended with a total of 53 points.
Warren & Kym danced to Proud Mary and as usual, Warren brought down the house. I just want to thank Warren for wearing his dancing shoes this week instead of sneakers. The judges gave them a 28. That combined with their Samba score, Warren & Kim ended with a total of 53 points.
The obvious winner may be Brooke & Derek, but the winner of this competition for ME was Lance & Lacey. I do hope Lacey returns next season to stir things up a bit, and that Lance walks away, whether he wins or not, with a newfound confidence.
