Dancing With The Stars had a special pre-show prior to the elimination show that high-lighted last night’s dances and scores. I’m not sure what purpose it served other than to be a filler of some sort for ABC. If they had done high-lights from the entire season I could understand that, since many times viewers tune in half way into the competition (that’s how I got hooked during Season 2) and it would help them to understand how we got to the final five.
In any event the judges asked for Warren & Kym’s tango to be repeated on tonight’s show which was no surprise to me since I wrote in my blog last night that it was my favorite dance of the night (except I accidentally labeled it a pasadoble).
It looks like Julianne’s medical issues are behind her now and she’ll get to dance once again with Cody next week. Edyta was a good sport and really helped Cody to remain in the competition while Julianne was healing and we thank her for that!
Brad Paisley was tonight’s entertainment, but for me the real treat was watching Lacey dance with her brother Benji Schwimmer. Benji is the reason I started tuning into So You Think You Can Dance. I caught him competing half way through the season and have been hooked on t he show ever since. Wouldn’t it be great if Dancing With The Stars recruited him for next season along with Lacey? Then we’d have two sets of brother and sister dance professionals competing against one another. We’d also get to enjoy watching them dance together not only like Benji & Lacey did tonight but also Julianne & Derek. Weren’t they just phenomenal performing their piano dance??????
Additional “filler” consisted of the couples sitting down for therapy with Dr. Drew. I thought this was completely inappropriate for this show. I don’t know about you but I watch Dancing With The Stars to lighten my mood. If I wanted to watch stars in therapy I’d watch Dr. Drew’s reality show, Celebrity Rehab. But after a hard day’s work watching messed up celebrities in therapy is not what I consider to be entertainment. Looking at the positive, however, the moment between Cody & Julianne was a beautiful one, wasn’t it?
As I suspected last night, and in spite of the two 10’s I gave him, it was Maurice who was chosen to turn in his dancing shoes this week.
