Recap of America's Got Talent 3 Final Results
By Arthur Perkins

OK, it's finally over. Not just a long and difficult season but also a long and boring results show. NBC started with a performance by all of the top 10 acts. What a misuse of most of those talents! Next was a female singer that I have never heard of (that doesn't mean much for pop singers), but Jerry Springer introduced her as effectively the "second coming", when she was just average for professional female vocalists. I would have guessed that's all the talent they could afford, but I would be wrong. Next was a mish-mash of brief performances by also-rans who got eliminated throughout the competition but did not make the top 10. One example is Dorae Sanders, the male with a combination male/female vocal range who impersonates Tina Turner. Before that performance was completed who should arrive onstage to join in but Ozzie Osbourne(I think actually the impersonator who was so good Sharon couldn't tell) and someone who looked like one of his sons(I had heard that 4 Osbournes would perform but I only saw 2 and who knows whether they were the teal ones?). After about 20 seconds from that point, the performance ended.

On with the show. Now we get to the elimination part as NBC had to stretch out a 15 minute maximum show into a whole hour. As voted by the American public, #5 was Queen Emily. I am surprised by this as I thought her performance last week was worth the #3 slot. Next to go at #4 was Donald Brasswell. Due to his weak performance last week, I had Donald at #5. In #3 was the biggest surprise of the night. America voted Nuttin But Stringz #3 when I thought Eli Mattson should go there. There is great suspense on whether Neal E. Boyd or Eli Mattson wins. It is Neal E. Boyd for the win, with Mattson second. NBC says that there was only 0.5% of the vote between them, the lowest gap ever.

So Neal E. Boyd wins $1,000,000 and the opportunity to perform opera and other pieces as the headliner in a Las Vegas show on Oct. 17. He receives a taped tribute from Placido Domingo, who I continue to rate as the world's best tenor. He is then asked by Jerry Stringer to perform and reprises his Nessun Dorma aria by singing it with great emotion befitting someone whose future has just gotten a lot easier(and deservedly so). I am impressed that for the second season in a row (definitely not including the first when Bianca Ryan won) America, in a paraphrase of the immortal David Hasselhoff, "nailed it." I like that when they get it right.

So, that's it for this season.
