Kim Kardashian Can’t Play Dress Up Any Longer On Dancing With The Stars
By: Mary Cavaliere
Last night we watched 11 dances and out of all of them the judges wanted to see Warren & Kym’s pasa doble again. Good choice judges!
This week’s first special guest was Jessica Simpson singing her new country hit “Come On Over”. I wasn’t aware that Jessica had crossed over into a new genre. She sang a second song entitled “Angel” later in the show, but honestly it sounded like an American Idol audition. Good thing we have great dancers like Cheryl Burke to distract us!
I did not get the name of the second special guest. Did this group even have a name at all? I heard it was sponsored by Macy’s and I heard that one person was a former Pussycat Doll and another was one of the stars of the movie Step-Up but I couldn’t for the life of me catch the name no matter how many times Tom or Samantha said it. In any event, it was really cool dance performance.
We got a sneak peek of Bruno and Len’s relationship as they high-lighted the fact that both of these judges also work on the English version of this show. So I guess all the fighting on stage while judging is for entertainment purposes? Well it is entertaining, so that’s o.k. with me. These two English gents fly back and forth every week and exhaust themselves because they love being part of the show. I can understand that. I would exhaust myself as well for a really good job in the entertainment industry. Although you’re tired, it just doesn’t feel like work so you’re willing to make that sacrifice.
The shocker of the night was seeing Rocco & Karina become “safe” so early in the show. They were relieved and so was I. Sorry, but I want to see him dance in those sexy black pants at least one more time!
As for elimination, it was no surprise to me that Kim Kardashian was the next to go. I said last night this show is not just about good looks, nor is it about a contestant wanting to play dress-up (I rolled my eyes when she made that comment). This show consists of professional champion dancers giving of their time, energy, and experience to teach these stars how to dance and compete every week. I’m sure it’s just as exhausting for them as it is for Len & Bruno traveling back and forth to England. If Kim wasn’t willing to be more serious about dancing for the sake of her partner alone, then she has no business being there. Personally, I’m ecstatic about the choice America made tonight!
