Rumba And Pasa Doble Featured On Dancing With The Stars
By: Mary Cavaliere

Tonight was the night of the rumba and the pasa doble, two of my favorites but it was clear by the end of the night that these couples did not have enough time to master their dance for this week.  Here’s a synopsis of their dances and the judges combined score as well as mine:

Toni & Alec did the rumba.  It’s hard for me to believe that Toni is not a trained dancer.  She is so elegant and sexy when she dances.  Judges Score = 23 ~ My Score = 9

Brooke & Derek did the pasa doble.  I was disappointed.  I usually love Derek’s choreography but this didn’t excite me.  They danced it well nonetheless.  Judges Score = 24 ~ My Score = 8

Rocco & Karina did the rumba.  The problem was I couldn’t take my eyes off Karina, which could have been her plan (the art of distraction)?  I don’t think Rocco did is bad as the judges thought (or maybe I just love him in those tight pants!)  Judges Score = 16 ~ My Score = 7

Lance & Lacey did the pasa doble.  I don’t care what the judges had to say – it was hot, it was original, and it was mesmerizing!  Judges Score = 20 ~ My Score = 10!

Kim &  Mark did the rumba and it was the worst one I’ve ever seen.  Len is wrong, Kim does not have the potential to do great on this show, and Carrie Ann is wrong as well, because there is nothing about her that we, the audience really wants to watch.  I think we’ve seen enough.  It’s time for a reality check because this competition is not based on beauty alone. Judges Score = 17 ~ My Score = 5

Misty & Max did the pasa doble.  It had some great parts, and Misty looked great in that outfit, but there were spots here and there that just weren’t fluid.  That flip was incredible though! Judges Score = 21 ~ My Score = 7

Maurice & Cheryl did the rumba.  Bruno said he was “clunky”?  You’ve got to be kidding me!  Granted the dance lacked a little footwork, but I felt it was in the choreography, not in what Maurice did.  He is one sexy guy on that dance floor!  Judges Score = 19 ~ My Score = 7

Cloris & Corky did the pasa doble. Not bad for a woman her age, but not great either.  What I want to know was who dressed her?  She has a great body and they covered her up too much which I think added to the awkwardness of the dance.  Judges Score = 15 ~ My Score = 5

Susan & Tony did the rumba.  It looked to me like Tony choreographed the dance for a china doll that might break.  It was too cautious and there were not enough dance steps to prove anything to me. Judges Score =  ~ My Score = 6

Warren & Kym did the pasa doble.  Again Warren made it look effortless.  I agree with the judges – his footwork was incredible.  Judges Score = 24 ~ My Score = 9

Cody & Julianne did the rumba. It was a little modest but Cody definitely has great potential and will probably be in the competition for a while.  Judges Score = 21 ~ My Score = 8

The top couples for the night were once again Brooke & Derek (24), Toni & Alec (23), and Warren & Kym (24).  At risk for tomorrow night’s elimination based on lowest scores are Cloris & Corky (15), Rocco & Karina (16), and Kim & Mark (17).
