Last Comic Standing God's Pottery

Recently we had the opportunity to speak with GOD'S POTTERY from Last Comic Standing on NBC and here's what they had to say:

Jeremiah Smallchild and Gideon Lamb met as freshman roommates at Christ Our Leader College, where Gideon majored in smiles and general studies, and Jeremiah designed his own major: Christian Practicality in the Everyday, Every Day.  They formed the musical Christian folk duo God's Pottery, hoping to use their music, people skills and Biblical know-how to "engage the Youth."  Describing their unique style of comedy, they say, "Imagine a rainbow.  Now double it!"  For them, the best thing about being in comedy is "teaching sad hearts to sing, and picking up new quips and zingers from the other comics."  They enjoy bringing their smiles, boyish enthusiasm and above-average comprehension of the Gospels to clubs across the country, where they hope to "inspire all who are willing to listen with open hearts." God's Pottery says they are different from other comics because "We know how to laugh and have a good time, but also make sure it's safe for the Youth. It's those kinds of leadership skills that really separate 'the wheat' From 'the shaft.' And we think America will recognize that!"

Q. So how did you get involved in the show?

A. God's Pottery (Last Comic Standing): We were at a community outreach in New York and a producer happened to see us and asked us if we would be interested in it. We were very happy and excited about it right away. It seemed like a good fit though it was a difficult experience because we hadn't hung out with comics in the past that much.

Q. What was your favorite experience on the show?

A. God's Pottery (Last Comic Standing): We enjoyed the free bottled water and donuts. We got to ride around on the bus and made a lot of new friends. We met a lot of people and did a lot of laughing.

Q. What was your worst experience?

A. God's Pottery (Last Comic Standing): Esther Ku told us that she wasn't in church and hung out at bars. It was a challenging moment for us. Her laugh warms everyones heart. Also Marcus and Jeff chased us around the house with Nerf weapons and we felt like we were being hunted like animals.

Q. Would you change anything about your experience while on the show?

A. God's Pottery (Last Comic Standing): Wish we could have stayed longer. We could have made more of an impact. Jesus was struck down in his time and because of that others were able to live on.

Q. So what's next for the two of you?

A. God's Pottery (Last Comic Standing): W are on the road and taking our message across the country. We are blogging and keeping the ball rolling. Be sure to check out our website www.GodsPottery.com

Jeremiah's Story: As the world turns and changes, so do we, but one thing remains constant in the yes of Jeremiah Smallchild: a devotion to the wonder and majesty of Christ and the Lord. A graduate of Christ Our Leader College, Jeremiah designed his own major of study, "Christian Practicality in the Everyday, Every Day."

Jeremiah first started taking a leadership role in the Church as Treasurer of "Healing through Hugs" (HtH), an organization where everyone wins through hugs. He then worked with "Building a Life around Neverending Christian Ethics" (BaLaNCE), a life-skills organization. His involvement in these groups inspired him to start his own organization, "Seeing without Realizing Difference" (SwoRD), a diversity-skills program which grew to five members. He is now a member of the musical Christian folk duo "God's Pottery" with friend Gideon Lamb.

FUN FACTS:

Favorite Food: Tacos, Burritos (tie)
Favorite Movies: Fantasia, The Red Balloon, Cannonball Run
Other Activities: Sporting/Athletics, Puzzles, Inter-net

Gideon's Story: Gideon is a proud soldier in God's army. He also loves cats! When he's not spreading the Word or "jamming" on his guitar, Gideon likes to read spiritual comic books and Omni Magazine.

Gideon first saw "the light" as a young child after falling head-first off the roof of his home while trying to fly in his Superman costume. Ever since that life-changing experience (and the ensuing four-month hospital stay) he's been spreading the Word of Jesus and bringing love and joy to all that cross his path. You'll never see Gideon without his wide-eyed grin, boyish enthusiasm, and above-average comprehension of the Gospels. He also loves cats!

FUN FACTS:

Favorite Food: Pizza! (plain)
Favorite Superhero: Jesus/Catwoman (tie)
Favorite Movie: Charlotte's Web
Favorite Things: Jesus, cats, the Internet
Other Activities: Sometimes Gideon likes to read about magical places and then imagine he's playing pick-up basketball with Jesus in those places. He's also very interested in other cultures, specifically Canada.
