FINAL SIX COUPLES BATTLE IT OUT ON SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE

The guest judge for this week was Mia Michaels, however if she keeps up this Simon Cowell demeanor I’m going to have to put Tyce Diorio first and not base it just on her brilliant choreography.  The comment she made tonight to Jessica was not only mean it was uncalled for.  It’s supposed to be constructive criticism Mia, not a slap in the face to these kids!

Chelsie & Mark’s first performance was a SALSA.  All I can say is hot hot hot hot hot!!!  What a way to start the performances tonight.  Tyce’s choreography was spectacular and so was this couple.  Their second routine was a BROADWAY number.  Chelsea may be a tomboy but she is Pamela Anderson sexy on stage!  I loved watching every minute of it.

Comfort & Thayne performed a HIP-HOP number first.  The judges blamed Comfort on the dancing but honestly since this was Comfort’s genre I expected the choreography to be a little more complex.  It didn’t showcase what Comfort can do so I feel she got short-changed this time around.  The second routine was a CONTEMPORARY piece.  I thought the problem was the choreography here too, but then all three judges commented on how brilliant the choreography was, so I guess it was the dancing that was the problem.  All I know is that it didn’t work for me.

Jessica & Will performed a CONTEMPORARY piece first.  I would have thought this was a Mia Michaels piece it was so brilliant.  Go Tyce!  The only thing I wanted to see was Jessica and Will’s eyes meet more.  But it still was an extremely moving performance.  Their second performance was a QUICK-STEP.  Now I’m not a dance expert but I have watched many a quick-step on Dancing With The Stars and I thought they did a darn good job.  I don’t think they should be faulted because the costuming was bad, nor do I think they should be faulted because there wasn’t enough quick-stepping going on because that’s the choreographer’s fault.  When Mia Michaels made her nasty comment about Will needing a new partner because Jessica’s holding him back I wanted to slap her up side the head.  It was flip and mean.  What was she thinking?  I realize that sometimes I’m guilty of this but I’m a blogger, not a choreographer or judge and even more importantly Mia, a role model to these kids about how to treat others in this very competitive industry.  I do hope the fans pulled together and voted so this couple doesn’t end up in the bottom three and Mia won’t have her chance to eliminate Jessica from the competition which is obviously what she wants.

Courtney & Gev performed a CHA-CHA first.  No offense to Gev because he’s a great dancer but I couldn’t take my eyes off of Courtney the entire time.  She is just gorgeous on stage and she has that star quality that just sucks you in.  Their second number was a JAZZ routine.  I hated the routine but again, that’s not the dancers’ fault.  I was completely bored through the entire piece.

Kherington &Twitch performed a CRUMP routine first.  It was phenomenal!  I love watching this couple.  They could be up on stage baking cookies together and I’d watch.  They are definitely one of my favorites.  Their second number was a SMOOTH TANGO.  I thought it was one of the most mediocre tangos I’d ever seen but doesn’t the choreography have something to do with that?

Katee & Joshua performed a WALTZ first.  The judges seemed to critique it rather harshly where I thought it was stunning to watch.  Their second dance was a BOLLYWOOD routine.  This was definitely the most interesting piece and the best performance of the night. The couple danced it brilliantly as well.

These were my favorite DANCES of the night (although you’ll note that Chelsie & Mark ended up on my list twice making them my favorite couple of the night):

Chelsie & Mark (Salsa)
Chelsie & Mark (Broadway)
Courtney & Gev (Cha-Cha)
Jessica & Will (Contemporary)
Katee & Joshua (Bollywood)

Again, it’s difficult to pick a bottom three couple when they’re doing two routines in addition to one dancer possibly doing better than the other.  Also, we’re down to only six couples so picking the bottom three means you have to pick 50% of the contestants and that doesn’t seem logical to me.  So these were my least favorite DANCES of the night.  As for who is at risk…….I think the judges are finally on board with me with regard to Comfort.  It is time for her to go home.  As for the guys, I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes because all six remaining are fantastic.  Let’s see how they all do tomorrow night dancing for their lives.

Comfort & Thayne (Hip-Hop)
Comfort & Thayne (Contemporary)
Courtney & Gev (Jazz)
Kherington & Twitch (Smooth Tango)
