SUSIE & MARQUIS HEAD HOME ON SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE
By: Mary Cavaliere
The opening number was kind of cool. Hip-hop is my least favorite type of dance but I enjoyed this number nonetheless. Tell me, can Cat Deeley get any prettier? She looked absolutely stunning in that green-yellow dress!
The first guest performer was Timo Nunez, one of the best flamenco dancers on the planet. The young girls obviously love him. Well, so do us "older" girls!
The second guest performer was Flo-Rider. Again, I'm showing my age but I just don't get this style of music. I can't keep their names or their songs straight because they all look the same, dress the same, sing (if you want to call it that) the same, and act the same. How do the young kids choose which ones will be the most popular when they're all clones of one another? I guess I'll have to ask my 12-year old tomorrow.
The bottom three couples this week were Chelsea & Thayne, Susie & Marquis, and Comfort & Chris. Well I named two of the couples last night so there were no big surprises for me here. The six at risk danced for their lives and here is what I rated them on a scale from 1-10:
Chelsea - She is just full of energy and spunk....I just love her - 9
Thayne - Someone who can leap like this should not be going home at this point in the competition - 9
Susie - I didn't understand what Nigel said because I thought she brought that Latino fire back into her dance tonight - 9
Marquis - He is technically brilliant but I don't think it was his "tricks" that hurt him tonight. I think what hurt him last night as well as tonight is his dancing leans toward the feminine side and they don't see him as a strong male partner to one of the females on the show - 9
Comfort - Absolutely nothing impressive for me here and I totally disagree with the judges' decision to keep her yet another week. I think she's overly-confident and a bit cocky - 6
Chris - He is a great dancer but I felt both Thayne and Marquis were stronger tonight - 8
If I were choosing I would have sent Comfort & Chris home. I wasn't happy with Susie & Marquis leaving the competition at this point. Susie was my 12-year old daughter's favorite on the show. She is not going to be too happy about the judges' decision either.
Next week the Top 8 will perform for us once again.
Top 8 Girls: COMFORT, KOURTNI, COURTNEY, CHELSIE, CHELSEA, KHERINGTON, NATALIE, and KATEE.
Top 8 Guys: JOSHUA, TWITCH, MATT, MARTIN, THAYNE, CHRIS, WILLIAM, and GEV.
