First Eliminations On So You Think You Can Dance

The opening number was uncomfortable for me, as the viewer, to watch Nigel being tied up and gagged.  Not that he doesn't deserve it sometimes, but it's not why I tune in!

The first guest performer was honestly someone I have never heard of before.  Some "popper" called Poppin Pete and yadayadayada.  I played my Tivo back three times and could not understand what Cat was saying.  I know the prime audience for this show is teens, so I'm sure they all knew who these guys were.  But I'm a "mature adult" and this type of dancing doesn't do it for me so I'll be honest and tell you I fast-forwarded through it.

The second guest performer was the Pussycat Dolls.  I just love watching this group.  These girls are what every woman wishes they could be.   To look like they do, and dance like they do, and then to be able to sing?  I swear it.  I'm going to be one of them in my next life!!!

The bottom three couples were announced:  Kourtni & Matt, Rayven & Jamie, and Jessica & Will.  I do NOT understand how Jessica & Will made it into this group.   Is it possible the young people are not voting for him because they know he's Debbie Allen's protégé?  It could be a parallel situation to that of Carly Smithson on American Idol.  Carly clearly had the best singing voice out of all the contestants this season.   But she continually ended up in the bottom three and was eventually voted out.  I believe there was a lot of animosity about the fact the she already had a recording career (that failed) and voters felt she had an advantage over the other contestants.  I'm hoping that is not the case with Will.  This young man is a brilliant dancer and deserves to compete until the end Debbie Allen or no Debbie Allen.

The six contestants in the bottom had to dance for their lives.  Here's just a few words on each dancer's performance and how I rate what they did on a scale from 1-10:

Kourtni - Looked nervous and unsteady but still doesn't deserve to go home - 8

Matt - An excellent dancer who shouldn't go home because he lacks personality - 10

Rayven - Hated the outfit and was not impressed with the dancing - 7

Jamie - Captivating and mesmerizing - 10

Jessica - A bit mediocre and not really good enough to keep her there - 8

Will - Brilliant brilliant brilliant from beginning to end - 10

This is where the elimination gets difficult.  In all actuality two girls probably should have gone home.  But because of the coupling on this show, one of these guys, who were all a 10 in my book, had to depart.   Honestly, I was not surprised that it was Rayven going home but my heart went out to Jamie because he deserved to stay.

Next week the Top 8 will perform for us once again.

Top 8 Girls:  COMFORT, KOURTNI, COURTNEY, SUSIE, CHELSIE, CHELSEA, KHERINGTON, NATALIE, and KATEE.

Top 8 Guys:  JOSHUA, TWITCH, MATT, MARQUIS, MARTIN, THAYNE, CHRIS, WILLIAM, and GEV.
