Survivor Microneisa Season 16 ~ Episode 14 – May 11, 2008

This was another one of those funny episodes listening to the girls giggle and make fun of how easily they manipulated all of the men this season.  They just cracked me up with the Venus Fly Trap conversation and how that got them to the final four.  It seemed none of the women were missing the presence of the men on the island. 

The first challenge was surprisingly not for a reward, which is what the girls were hoping for.  It was for immunity.  The tribe members had to balance themselves on a long tall thin pole in the water.  They had to use a bucket on a rope to gather water and pour it into a bamboo shoot.  As the water filled up the shoot a set of keys would rise up to the top of the pole.  As soon as the tribe member could get the keys they jumped into the water, swam to shore, and used the key to open a chest filled with a variety of ladder rungs.  There were 16 rungs, each individually shaped.  In typical Survivor puzzle format, the girls had to fit each rung into the correct slots to create a ladder.  The first one able to use their ladder to get to the top platform and raise their flag won immunity, which in this case happened to be Amanda. 

At tribal council Cirie made it known that she has always felt she was at the bottom of the alliance.  Amanda seemed quite offended at this implication and once Natalie was sent home, Cirie and Amanda continued to argue about it when they got back from tribal council.  All of the drama ended up with tears, but it only lasted a short while.  The girls kissed and made up and it was obvious their love and respect for one another was genuine.

The girls were pretty disappointed when they learned there was not going to be a final three but only a final two.  When they found out Cirie referred to this news as a karmic blindside.  The next immunity challenge wasn’t an easy one either.  The girls had long wooden cylinders broken out into sections.  They had to balance a small ball bearing on one of the cylinder sections for five minutes.  If they lasted through that round two more cylinder pieces were added to each end making the balancing act a little harder.  They continued through several rounds and Parvati was the first one to drop out of the challenge. The last round didn’t end at five minutes.  It went as long as it needed to until Cirie lost control of the cylinders and Amanda once again won immunity.  Only this time winning was bittersweet.  Yes, Amanda now had immunity, but it also meant she had to choose which one was going to be in the final two with her.   Once again she was brought to tears because she knew she had to hurt either Parvati or Cirie.

I was rooting for Amanda to choose Cirie to go with her to the end.  I have never liked Parvati since day one.  I think she’s a snake in the grass and was already frustrated she had made it this far.  I know that Amanda thought going up against Parvati would be easier than going up against Cirie but the final blind-side came to Amanda, as well as the viewer, when Parvati won the million dollars with a five to three vote.   I only watched five or ten minutes of the reunion show just to see the winner and as soon as I saw it was Parvati I had no desire to stay up until 11:00 pm to see anything more.   I’ll watch it tonight after dinner when I don’t have anything better to do…..

I want to wish Ozzy and Amanda all the best.  That was some speech he made during the final tribal council and according to his interview a few weeks ago when he was eliminated, they are still together as a couple.  I just wish one of them had one the million like Rob and Amber did a few season back!
