Yesterday we had the pleasure of speaking with Craig from Hells Kitchen 4. Craig a 30 year old originally from Coram, NY is a Sous Chef at The Hyatt Regency and was recently eliminated from Fox’s Hit show Hell’s Kitchen.
Mark, RealityWanted.com: Craig what’s up buddy, where are we talking to you today?
Craig, Hells Kitchen 4: I’m in Long Island NY.
Mark, RealityWanted.com: Tell the readers where you work?
Craig, Hells Kitchen 4: I am a Sous Chef at one of the Hyatt Regencies, I have been there since 1998.
Mark, RealityWanted.com: So what’s been the reaction from friends and family after you got the boot last night from Gordon Ramsey?
Craig, Hells Kitchen 4: Friends and family have been sending emails saying I did a pretty good job and happy I even tried out for it. My general manager wished me luck on the show, but of course he is happy I didn’t win otherwise there would be a help wanted sign at the Hyatt.
Mark, RealityWanted.com: What prompted you to try out for the show, it’s no walk in the park.
Craig, Hells Kitchen 4: I watched all seasons of Hells Kitchen and Top Chef and thought many of the people on the show sucked and told myself I could do it, but it’s a lot harder than it looks and at times your set up for failure.
Mark, RealityWanted.com: How are you set up for failure?
Craig, Hells Kitchen 4: Things like mixing bowls, would disappear when you needed them. We also would prep other cooks stations which you don’t normally do as a cook so if they prep it wrong you pay the price.
Mark, RealityWanted.com: Why was Chef Ramsey all over Ben on the last episode?
Craig, Hells Kitchen 4: I think Chef Ramsey expects more out of Ben and didn’t like some of the answers Ben was giving him. Chef also didn’t like them all high fiving each other while I still needed help.
Mark, RealityWanted.com: What about the pasta challenge, it looked like it was all muscle and I assumed the guys would take it.
Craig, Hells Kitchen 4: I really don’t think we lost that challenge. I think Chef Ramsey counted a lot of the girl’s pasta that shouldn’t have been counted.
Mark, RealityWanted.com: I did hear Chef Ramsey say he would be measuring the pasta base on his criteria, so I guess he could have made the call on whomever he wanted to have win. I know we are short on time, but would you do this again?
Craig, Hells Kitchen 4: In a heartbeat!
